Spent two nights and on one night had a Valentines dinner. All in all very good value. The dinner was 1st class, I mean that, could not fault anything. Service by all staff very efficient, polite and friendly. Breakfasts were Continental and good and fresh. The room we were given was huge, the only negative was that there were a...

This hotel is quite quirky. As you walk around you find room after room with sitting areas. The rooms themselves are spacious and the bed very comfortable. We ate in the restaurant and the food was mixed. My wife's fish was excellent but my lamb chops were overcooked. Shame really.

One night in this enchanting hotel was not enough. We booked a superior double and the room was spacious, the bed comfortable and there was an added bonus of a large terrace. There was plenty of comfortable seating in every nook and cranny of the public areas and the hotel oozed charm. The breakfast was plentiful and varied. The only...

It was a great experience! The hotel is an old convent but with all the commodities. Beautiful swiming pool (not that big) with a great view of the castle. The room in the 2nd floor had a balcony facing the swiming pool. All the staff was super friendly and helpfull. You got to love everything in Alentejo!!!!

This ancient convent has been renovated into a charming hotel. The room was huge, with four distinct and independent areas: a spacious entrance hall with wardrobe, a large bathroom with bath, a bedroom full of light and a balcony overlooking the pool, the castle and the vast Alentejo plain. The service was very friendly and efficient, including recommendations on places...

I hesitated over the rating, granted it is not 'really bad' but we found this hotel disappointing compared with both its online promises and the previous hotels we had stayed in in Portugal. Looking back, everywhere we stayed on our two week trip surpassed the Convento D'Alter. The poor impression at the start was made by the receptionist taking a...
