2nd visit in 11 months and this one was better than the last due to much better weather. Rooms comfortable but the highlight has to be, weather permitting, the talk and walk at about 4:30 each afternoon to the surrounding scrubland. So many koalas seen, loads of kangaroos and an entrance into the Tiger Quoll enclosure. A later walk to see the Pottoroo and Sliders is just something else. Stayed two nights and the first meal was a bit over the top with Mushrooms but the 2nd night a better balance. Understand the mushrooms didn't go to waste though as the animals like them.

If you like to get up close to wildlife and learn more about their habitat from dedicated experts then this place could not be beaten. You need to stay at least 2 nights to participate in all this has to offer. There are walks through the property, Cape Otway Light is just a few kilometres down the track and there are opportunities to go out with the naturalists to see the rescued Koalas, the resident wildlife on the estate and the quolls breeding programme. The lodge is comfortable without being luxurious with meals taken together at a large table. This gives guests a chance to socialise and share experiences. We were lucky to coincide with some Australians walking the Ocean Road trail and chatting with them we learned a lot about modern Australia and the big issues for conservation. Meals are home cooking at its best- meals were fresh cooked and there were veggie options every night. The lodge is a 30 minute drive from Apollo Bay so eating out in the evening would be a trek. We stayed 3 nights here in the off season but the lodge was full every night so you definitely need to book. Definitely a place to remember- we would love to go again.

Room Tip: We had "the nest" which was at the back of the lodge and so did not have the best view....
