The food was appalling. No vegetarian option on the menu. When a concocted veggy meal arrived it was clearly of yesterdays ingredients, was cold and tasted appalling. Service lax; waitresses not answering requests.

Three of us called in on the off chance of grabbing some food between Christmas and new year, this was not a problem as the restaurant only had one other table with people eating, and this is how it remained in the two hours we were there. We waited over 45 minutes for two salads and a bowl of chips!...

I have just come home from a very lovely long weekend at The Crown. We stayed from NYE for 2 nights as had a wedding up the road. The hotel is lovely and the staff made you feel like you were part of the family. Nothing was an issue from ordering taxis to lending us brollies! My only negative would...

This place could be amazing. Lovely building in the heart of a lovely market town. We have been here many times and every time the drinks and food arrive late to the point you are left feeling ignored and forgotten. Such a shame but we decided today was our last visit after waiting 45 minutes for a cup of tea...

I booked a table for my mum, my brother and myself as a Christmas Eve treat and felt completely gutted and let down by the overall experience. I am local, and having had delicious meals at the Crown when it was under previous ownership, I felt sure this would be the perfect way to begin the Christmas celebrations. I had...

I stayed here after a wedding at the nearby Easton Grange venue - a 10 minute taxi ride. Was made very welcome despite arriving at lunchtime when the place was busy. It's a lovely old English building, exposed beams and an asymmetry lending itself to appealing nooks and crannies. Parking is at the rear - a bit of a drive-around...

Four of us had a girlie Christmas meal on a Friday in December, we were warned when me made our reservation that our table would only be held open for 15 minutes from our booking time, so we were expecting a very busy and lively restaurant. We were rather surprised when we arrived to be offered a choice of at...

Popped in for a coffee and ended up having lunch instead. Really tasty sweet potato and carrot soup with sandwiches. Tasty sandwiches but only the down side was that the granary bread was from a sliced loaf as opposed to a whole loaf. The cress was missing out of my duck egg and cress sandwich too but that said the...

Six of us were warmly welcomed at reception and shown to our lovely rooms. Plenty of comfy settees and roaring fires for pre-dinner drinks. Our request for the round table at dinner was granted - food was good and service was very attentive and much appreciated. We all slept well and enjoyed a hearty breakfast, again with good service. I'm...

I'm writing this review whilst sat at breakfast. Service is extremely slow. We waited 35mins until I went up to desk to ask if I could order breakfast. Still waiting for it to arrive - 20 mins later! Dinner very average last night. Room over the bar so extremely noisy. TV doesn't work. No shower - broken hose attached to...
