In the last six months we've been to San Marino By The Sea at Marcoola twice. It's a 90 minute run (on a good day) from just south of the Brisbane CBD to Marcoola. Leith and Richard are perfect hosts.
Marcoola is quite laid back, the way the North Coast used to be, just with taller buildings. Even then nothing much over six stories.
The beach is close to everything. Just one tip, there's the odd jellyfish so a rashie for the kids would be worth having. That aside, the beaches are clean and patrolled.
We had a top floor unit with a private rooftop terrace. Being so close to Sunshine Coast Airport, if you liked planes, you could watch them take off and land all day. Having said that, the noise from the airport is more of a background noise which didn't bother us at all.
We had an ocean view room that faced south with sweeping views from the ocean in the east and the mountains in the west. Being right near the shipping lane there's a constant stream of ships right out the window.
The 2 bed/2 bath unit was clean and quite well appointed. It's fully self contained. Views from each bedroom and and ensuite in the master.
The complex has a pool and tennis court, for the more actively inclined, and undercover parking.
There's plenty of food options within walking distance and for something a bit nicer, a 5 minute drive to the Loose Goose is a must. There's a Coles less than 10 minutes away for anything else you need.
This is a great spot to relax on the Sunshine Coast without the crowds.

Thankyou to the Taylors for a wonderful stay, such fantastic hosts we were absolutely delighted and blown away by their above and beyond service. Richard was so kind as to help us bring our luggage up to the room and give us all the pointers and even opening hours of nearby restaurants which was just so helpful. The beds were very comfortable and we were impressed by the kitchen and laundry which were fully functional. Wish we could’ve stayed longer and thanks to the pleasantness of both the service and the lovely rooms!! Thankyou both!!

Richard and Leith made my family feel very comfortable. They were friendly and extremely helpful. Our 3 bedroom apartment had everything we needed for our stay. It was very clean, comfortable and well equipped. The location is very quiet and right on the beach with no roads to cross. Kids loved the pool and tennis court too. Plenty of restaurants and places to eat on the strip and a great BBQ by the pool. Marcoola is away from the craziness of the main parts of the Sunshine Coast but close enough to everything too. The planes from the airport didn't cause any issues, there wasn't many at all and didn't fly early or late in the day. Our family will 100% go back again.

We book the three bedroom apartment 26 with three bedrooms. It has been renovated, nice with but half hearted. Balcony kept the old handrails that block your view, and the mattresses in the bedrooms are the cheapest ones and is very difficult to control the temperature in the rooms. But the main issue is the third bedroom. They promote it as two singles, but they are bunker beds, so for adults are useless, not to mention the mattresses that are bad, very bad. But the worst is that it is not air conditioned in the room, and not a single fan because of the bunkers. You can put even children there unless you want them to melt. We finish moving the mattress to the living room on the floor. Very far from idyllic holidays. The building is well preserved and the managers are very nice and friendly people. Parking is only on per apartment. Beach is really close without any road to cross.

The apartment booked has been recently refurbished, freshly painted, new window coverings, all new furniture and tastefully decorated by the new owners. This apartment offers stunning panoramic views to the ocean. Imagine our surprise when we read your comments on TripAdvisor. Managers Richard and Leith are very responsive and went out of their way to assist us with specific requests. Well appointed spacious unit with everything we needed, Beautiful location on the beach, with a heated pool, furniture and beds were very comfortable. 5 minutes from airport, but very little air traffic noise. Walking distance to several cafes, restaurants, convenience store and chemist. This was our 2nd stay at San Marino this year, we would definitely return here in the future!

We just spent 5 nights at San Marino. We enjoyed every minute beautiful ocean views and right on the beach. It was great to walk along the beach at night just after dinner and come back to the pool for a swim. Mornings for us started with a bike ride or run along the beach and a stop at the bakery at Mudjimba. Quiet beach safe for kids to play in their own space. Owners we lovely and were allways around if you needed something or just to say Hi.

Three rooms were booked by family members, all different rooms, they were all quiet, had lovely views and at a great price. The managers Richard and Leith were very accommodating & went above their expected duties. There are Coffee shops, a small supermarket, Liquor shop and restaurants very close. You can walk down the side path to the beach and there is a nice children's park at the back. A nice morning stroll to Mudjimba for brunch is recommended.

We thoroughly enjoyed our long weekend away at the San Marino by the Sea apartments. So close to the beach, within easy walking distance, the lovely apartment was fabulous, clean, presented well and had everything we desired. Richard was wonderful and explained how to access the car park, lifts and apartments, what shops were nearby and as we suddenly needed our car air con re-gassed when we arrived - gave excellent directions so we could get this sorted immediately. We were able to check in early and were given the option of a late checkout if required. Tip - if you book the apartment with beach views and morning light glare bothers you and you want to sleep late in remember to bring your eye mask as soon as the sun comes up light filters around the verticals in the master bedroom. We are already planning to come back again!

So happy to be back in our favorite place in the world. The ocean just off your balcony with the sound of the waves to put you to sleep. Apartments are beautifully maintained and the grounds are so beautiful and cared for so well by Leith and Richard. Have already booked again for next year.

Exceptional customer service. The standout was the property manager here who was honestly so lovely and accommodating during our stay. The property was also clean and the location was great with a beautiful view.
