Nice situation above Brienz, in an old landscaped garden overlooking the lake. Accommodation scattered over a number of old 1970 type buildings with a lot of stairs. We asked for the best room, which had a large picture window overlooking the lake, but the decor was bizarre, including a large tree trunk, and a bed fashioned as a birds nest,...

Two couples head out into one of the most romantic parts of the Berner Oberland, hoping to get an amazing place, given the price tag, only to discover that they're accommodations are bizarre to say the least. Mour bed, bed side tables and motif were shAped like Swiss cheese with poorly framed quirky photographs of some ancient Swiss mountaineer. On...

We arrived late afternoon in Brienz and it looked amazing. The hotel looked ok and dinner was expensive but good, the room was outdated and very small. Night came and with it cockroaches, I could not beleive my eyes. We were in Switzerland (the Gem) and the hotel had these disgusting insects. The girl at the reception acted very normal...

I have stayed at the Lindenhof many times over the years, so I can say the quality is consistent. The location with terrace overlooking the glacier green lake and surrounded by its own well kept park is hard to beat. The food is good, (Swiss with a modern feel) if over-garnished with herbs from it's own garden, but that's a...

We stayed here three nights the last week of July, in the "Cheese room". Karen Brown talked this place up in her book like it was Disneyland. It's actually just dated and kitschy, at least the theme rooms are. Ours was small even by European standards. I could barely turn around in the shower, which always flooded the bathroom floor,...

Stayed there for 2 nights late june 2008. We had an 2 floor apartment. Spacious, nice and clean. The hotel have an excellent location above Brienz, overlooking the Brienzersee and the sorroundings. The staff was always helpful. The first night we eat downtown, the second night at the hotel. We was sorry that we didn't have all the dinners at...

The Hotel Lindenhof in Brienz is a truly wonderful hotel. It has apartments and rooms, many individually themed such as the Shepherds room, Tree House and Magic Garden - see their website for details. We had the “Dovecote” apartment - on two floors. Downstairs, there is a cosy lounge/dining area and a small kitchenette with a fridge and hot-plate –...

The location is great and very quiet with a marvellous view on the lake. The normal rooms are very small and very basic. The price is very expensive for what we get. The swimming pool is nice. You have to ask the reception before using the sauna, not very convenient. The restautant is the best part of this hotel, a...

Hotel Lindenhof is the CUTEST hotel I have stayed at - situated a bit uphill and about 10 mins walk from the Brienz train station. We had been there with our two kids and taken a family apartment on two floors costing around 200CHF. The ground floor had a living room, kitchenette and bathroom. It was so creatively decorated with...
