Mixed feelings about this hotel. We had a large, clean family room with comfortable beds. It said with a view of the Swan River, but not really. However we ate outside on the terrace which did have a good view of the river and was nice to watch the sun set. Our issue really was with the staff who seemed completely disinterested - from the Reception staff to those in the bar/restaurant. Didn't make the best impression. For us however the hotel served its purpose after a long road trip - near to the airport, ready for our flight home the next day. Just felt like it lacked the personal touch (and it wasn't even busy - there were only a couple of other people in the bar/restaurant area. It felt very quiet).

We were looking forward to enjoying a meal at the hotel restaurant. The restaurant is well-appointed - a lovely surprise from the exterior - and the menu contains a good selection of meals to satisfy varying tastes. Unfortunately, that was as far as the experience went. We were a party of 5 and ordered our food and drinks 15 minutes after we were all seated. After having waited on our meal an hour I attended the bar and asked for an update on our order as we had only received our drinks. I was informed that our docket had gone missing (even though we were served our drinks) and that our meal would be served within the next 15 minutes. After having waited another 30 minutes we left. To make matters worse, no one attended our table during the one and a half hours to replenish our water, take more drinks orders, or to check on us or provide an update on our meal. The restaurant was not full, there was one table seating a party of two; another table with a party of six; and one other larger party. Regardless, the lack of service and the wait time cannot be justified even if the restaurant was busy. An absolute disappointment - we left and attended another nearby restaurant.

Never again, just did three night here...where does one start..... Rooms are modern and recently redone so not to shabby, however, a four star rated hotel OMG what a joke...I was put here by an employer and he was astounded when i told him about my stay that this is "apparently a 4 star hotel" ....self rated i am sure!!. Ok so for a four star hotel, No bottled water in the room, no mini bar, No hotel guide in the room at all ( what time do meals start, pool hours etc) nada...Zilch?? Extreme chinese decor is ok if thats your thing but I personally fgound it overbearing but that just me. No Foxtel on TV, No pay per view movies, Smart tv installed however no netflix or other apps installed so one could log in, meals start too late (0730) if your working for breakfast and later on the weekend (0830). When you have a shower the water is timed!!!!! it shuts off after a certain time period, (wtf) start it again & it goes for about 20 seconds...Very very hard to get an answer from reception. meal in the restaurant was ok but i have never had a lamb cutlet so thin and definitely not worth $ 45 dollars no way oh and charge my room please. No You pay now ? seriously?? grabbed three mid strenghth beers when i arrived $36 OMG seriously another 20 bucks i can get a whole carton (which i did!!) the other guy i was working with was from an overseas vendor and was returning home the next day he asked for a late checkout and was informed no we do not do them???? we need the rooms? Trust me this place was not full he was astounded as was our boss. Rooms are serviced every day but very badly anything on the floor (paper etc) not removed bins not emptied instant coffe not replaced (4 star hotel yet no milk supplied ???) Dead set serious for the price that they are asking (281-295$AUD) then go elsewhere their are way better 4 star( LOL ) places this place is simply taking the pi #$ never ever again !

Never ever ever again will we stay here . No food or bar services for the public holiday. We had to go to Petrol Station for food and drinks . We asked for drinks and were given cold tap water . Very disappointing stay . Very unusual approach to hospitality !!!

Went for lunch with friends today. This is a very attractive venue lovely dining areas that look out to glimpses of the river. The menu is quite adequate with something suitable for most people. The waiter taking our order was organised and polite. Delivery was not so good. We ordered four dishes. The first dish was delivered after about 20 mins. The next after another 10, the last after another 5. The use of a robot waiter for delivery, may look very high tech, but really stupid. The live and breathing waiter had to stand by the table and wait for the thing to trundle around and allow him to remove the two plates and place them on our table. I fail to see how this is improving efficiency. The dishes were OK, but HJ's does better burgers. It appeared that the aircon was turned off about 1:30 and the room heated up rapidly. We took the hint and left. Went to pay and no split billing available. Extremely unlikely to ever come back.

This hotel has lots of potential and wouldn’t take much to make it a beautiful place to stay. First stayed here a few years ago and wasn’t that good then but thought with new management might be ok now but wasn’t. I don’t usually do reviews just never go there again but so bad this time had to say something. On arrival they wanted a copy of my drivers license even though they had my car rego and credit card details queried why they needed to take a copy rather then just sight it??? No real answer other than saying for criminals and the police need to know. Paid for a Riverview room $270 per night so not cheap. The bed was large with 2 pillows did not look anything like the picture on their website, no bolsters or throw rugs not even a top sheet just a doona and a bottom sheet that didn’t fit and an air conditioner that didn’t work. Realised not worth saying anything as my other queries were met with excuses not solutions. No information booklet in the room could not get through on the phone so had to go to reception who told me they were new owners and hadn’t had time to attend to these details??? Had time to have a sheet in the room displaying prices for breakages though e.g. wine glass etc??? Small fridge in the room with not even water in it?? Had to pick milk up from reception asked about pool towels (available from reception apparently)and they said pool closed for maintenance I said I had rung about that a week before and was told it was working, they then said it would be open in 10 minutes and not to get in it yet as I could get electrocuted??? According to another guest with children that it had been closed all day and until I pushed was finally open. Room service again what number to call and what can I order; told me the magic number I could ring same as for reception(not the same as on the phone) and gave me a menu from reception. Went to the pool and was murky so obviously didn’t have their chemicals right, not hard to fix and was dirty. The absolute gem was the wine fridge that was there was only apparently for the 2 wine glasses not just my room but all rooms??? No rain shower just patched hole above other shower head was good though. Restaurant ok breakfast fabulous no one there though and the drinks we had had on the deck the night before the glasses were still there the next morning??? The final straw was when I went to go to the restaurant the next morning (New Years Day) it was closed apparently because it was a public holiday?? That is why and when you holiday in hotels at no time was this mentioned. Such a shame used to be a great hotel, before it was revamped, and was known as The Ascot Inn. Think it need’s Australian owners who could make it great again.

We paid extra for a river view room and there was only a view of the pool and some trees. The mattress was stained and there was only one room key which was inconvenient as it needed to be inserted for the power to work. This meant I had to wake up to open the door for my husband when he went out. There was no milk for tea/coffee in the room and not enough toiletries.

I don’t leave many bad reviews but I had the most horrible meal and experience at the restaurant. To start off the food portions were so small compared to the amount we paid and the quality was lacking I would not recommend anyone eating. Second the cocktail were either tasteless or over completely wrong flavour. Lastly the staff were completely lacking in knowledge and were almost no where to be seen during the evening.

Booked for Mothers Day High Tea 2 weeks in advance and paid $200 for 4. Arrived early, looked around, never been before, advised desk we were here for our booked table. Girl on desk said we could take our seats but wouldn’t be served until 2pm as that was our booking time, and to remind her we were there so she could put our order through. Fair enough. Sat down and ordered drinks from the small bar area. At 2 pm we went to the desk saw the same girl and she processed the order on the till. Within 5 minutes we had our pots of tea and ‘cups’ of milk… much to my 87 year old mums disgust, she wanted a milk jug.. anyways.. we sat chatting… and after about 15 mins decided we were hungry and it wouldn’t be too much longer as High Tea was sandwiches, Pastries and sweet snack.. anyways we carried on chatting.. and chatting.. and chatting and eventually at 2.50pm I decided to ask where our food was, albeit a cold dish and no need for even cooking.. the waiter, one of few, they looked short staffed, said he would find out… He returned after about 7 minutes with the news that the ‘order docket’ had not been sent to the kitchen .. and they were preparing it now.. after approximately another 10 minutes the 3 tiered cake stand arrived with only 2 plates on it bearing sandwiches and small petit sweet desserts. He apologised and said the ‘pastries’ were just in the oven but did the right thing and brought what he had out. The sandwiches were dry and the bread only white choice was rather thick for a 3 sliced 2 filling option. The sandwiches were all different sizes and some squashed. We were hungry so tucked in. The meringue with a raspberry berry sorbet was very sour and tasted strange. Only Half of a portion of 4 was eaten. After 10-15 minutes the pastries arrived, they were very nice and tasty, small apple and custard Danish and small croissants and jam. I was half expecting ‘freshly baked scones, with cream and Jam, as that was on the menu! But no signs of them. The waiter was apologetic and asked if he could get us drinks in the house, we opted for after dinner coffee which we had. Overall this experience was unsatisfactory bearing in mind, it was an advertised arranged event, my 87 yr old mum was disappointed and so were we, for a price of $200 this was not worth it at all, we will not be coming back here and would not recommend it to anyone, spend your money elsewhere.
