Had a couple of hours to kill waiting to pick up a friend from a day surgery so dropped into the Pub. Has been a long time since it was Shanney's Hotel and not all the changes are good? There was a good selection of beers on tap and after a perusal of the bistro menu, it appeared to be reasonably priced. Most attention seems to be directed to the gaming area but the sports bar was a good choice. A lovely old art deco Pub exterior dating back to the 1930's but not many original interior touches remain, sadly.

You absolutely get what you pay for. Very budget but close to the train line to the city so was a good position. The bathroom in our room was quite dirty and there was mould and staining to the grout in the shower and the rest of the bathroom. There was also a leak from the basin. For the short time we stayed I couldn’t really have been bothered to raise the issues. There’s much better budget accommodation in the area for only a little more $

Under the bed had not been cleaned in a while, bottle tops and other rubbish found under the bed. Dead cockroach at side of bed. Wheel missing off 1 corner of the bed. Milk in the cartons supplied had curdled (no fridge). No teaspoon and only 3 sachets of coffee. Door to shared balcony could not be locked. Linen appeared to be clean. Shower a little grubby. Fairly unwelcoming staff member on check in. Easy access to train station and shops and nice sports bar. Can be noisy in the evening but that was expected. Recommend Extra Crispy Chicken shop down the road!

Ritz's location is ideal to the centre of the suburb, eateries & train station is only 100 metres.
Restaurant & bar facilities are available.
Room was tidy with basic needs and in simple setting. Receptionists were friendly & offered conveniences - they were flexible in offering their services.
It is Worth they Charge!

absolutely disgusted with our treatment today. checked in to the tab sports bar area 11.55am today. at that time there was only two other patrons in the area. within two hours the area became busy. the security / covid guard said the area was over crowded and the bar manager made a decision we had to leave. i said we were basically the first in the area (bar two) he said sorry the chinese guys gamble here every week so you have to go. disgusted and ill not return and will deter any friends from visiting the ritz. absolute disgrace.

Messaged management twice and got zero reply. Obviously behaviour they encourage. All about getting the dirty china gambling money

We wanted somewhere that wouldn't break the bank, with a bathroom we didn't have to share, and this is what this is. We stayed in the room with a double bed and bunk beds. The double was comfortable, the bunks would probably be fine for children. For adults it's not so good. The upper mattress had a plastic/waterproof top. No parking at the hotel but we found some nearby. Although we were in the middle of Sydney, there wasn't a lot of noise keeping us awake. Spare blankets would have been nice to have in the room.

We loved our stay here!!

The location; so close to the train station, shopping malls, restaurants and cafes. The staff were really friendly and always happy to help. We were able to drop off our luggage prior to check-in, which enabled us to begin our exploration of Sydney, so very thankful. The room had everything we needed; comfortable bed, mini-fridge, TV, aircon and ensuite. Everything worked and was very neat and tidy. Seriously, we could not fault it. The pub! The food! Soooo good! Great food, great value and such a chilled atmosphere. The best place for winding down after long days of exploring. We will definitely be staying there again 😊

The only thing that is good is the price, the rest very bad. We arrived, and our room was used, dirty, not cleaned from the previous customer, then they gave another room to us. But, was very poor, bathroom wall had water infiltration behind the toilet bowl. It was just provided one tower for two people. The worst is the mattress and the pillow, the mattress is very old, very low in the middle, very worn, need to be replaced, gave to us sore in the back. Pillow are cheap, almost nothing the rest of the head, the same, cheap, old, need to replace.
No car park, no option in the region, no lift, just tiny stairs to reach the rooms.
