We spent 4 nights at The Louise and it was outstanding in every way- we could not recommend it enough. The location is beautiful, the rooms spacious, comfortable and thoughtfully appointed and the food is great. The staff were professional, efficient and friendly. The front of house manager Nathan is an absolute standout - he has tireless energy and his eye is on everything to ensure your needs are met before you have even thought of them! He is friendly and charming and full of wonderful local recommendations- a consummate professional. All in all, The Louise made our trip to the Barossa a really memorable holiday.
This is literally the only accommodation and food luxury you will want to experience. It is THE only destination in the Barossa Valley to afford you unequivocal service and sublime surroundings for the ultimate wine connoisseur.
We recently had the pleasure of spending 2 nights at the Louise over a weekend and were very happy. Our room was one of the suites overlooking the vineyards and was well maintained with all the expected luxuries. Bed and pillows were very comfortable. Bathroom and choice of rain head inside or outside shower was great. Complimentary mini bar and nuts and biscuits were great for pre dinner sampling. We ate at both restaurants (seperate reviews) and were very happy. We ate breakfast outside each day under the verandah and soaked up the views of the bursting vines. Very happy with the choices and quality. Enjoyed the swim in the pool. Given it was quite cool still, the heated pool was a real plus! Staff through out our stay were outstanding. Loved it. We will return!
I am resubmitting my review and downgrading my rating in the process because there seems to be a zero care factor regarding my concerns as outlined. Also, I have since reviewed photos of the exterior luxury room and discovered the entire front rock footpath area appears to have been sprayed with herbicide (likely the toxic chemical glyphosate). Get with the program people. Luxury getaways are about escaping to a secure, clean living, peaceful abode. The matriarch of your family would not be pleased. "Let me suggest the owners of this establishment, the Carrekers, would do well to review the security their guests should expect to count on and receive. Everyone seems to have ongoing access to your room with a fob key. Missing a packaged item from my luggage. This is theft as well as a breach of trust. Takes one bad apple to ruin the rest. It wouldn't take much to weed out the bad one(s). Also, the bed linens looked nice but did not smell fresh. At all. Bath towels not as clean as should be. Maybe install an all of establishment water filtration system. And what does it take for a staff person to brush away all of the millipedes from the front door. Might prevent them from coming inside. Carpets needed cleaning too. Standards must be greatly improved in order for this to be worth the hefty price tag."…
The room was lovely but not to the standard of what we paid. $1095 a night you would expect a better experience. Some of the detail was charming but the lack of service to support the experience was lost. The food at Appellation was very good but badly let down by the wine matching. There was no sommelier, despite one being promoted as being there to discuss the wines. We felt we were served second rate matching wines and one of the whites , was oxidized. Overall the experience was nice but at this point overpriced.
