The reception area is very outdated but thankfully the rooms were very spacious n clean. It would be useful if the room could have one or two extra mirrors for dressing up. Provision of basic essentials like cotton wool, cotton buds, shower caps would be useful too. Free parking is available

too quiet for our liking. Just 1 night is sufficient. Shops closed early and nothing much to do if you arrive late. Driving to the gorge is a bit steep and be careful. Nearby the ryokan, there's a place where you can do some handicrafts to kill your time.

We stayed in a Japanese style room which was very comfortable. The rooms are large with an entry hall, bathroom, separate lounge, balcony and a room big enough to sleep 3 adults. Mattresses were very comfortable. Hotel is in a convenient location to drive to the gorge and within walking distance to restaurants.

Arrived late in the town where there's no night life. Good enough for an overnight stay before heading to takachiho gorge early in the morning. Free parking and spacious rooms. Helpful hotel staff. Old hotel with ryokan styled rooms but clean

This is a Japanese style business hotel rather than a proper Ryokan; it was very quiet the night we stayed and we got a massive room with separate lounge that could have slept 6! Hotel itself looks a little tired but still clean and well equipped. Parking is available and we got into a covered space right next to the...

This property was a bit worn down but our spacious Japanese-style room was comfortable and clean. Most places we found in Takachiho involved a shared bathroom but this ryokan offered en-suite facilities, which was a good choice for us. There is limited parking near the side entrance, so you may have to park further down the sloped road at another...

Our party comprised 3 adults. We were given a spacious Japanese/ tatami room, with another sitting area at the balcony. In the day time, the space is a living room. At night, 3 mattress and beddings were laid out on the floor. It is still quite spacious. The room is clean, though the lights are dim. Our room was quiet....

I am not sure if I would recommend this ryokan to a friend, on the one hand the staff is friendly, the food is really good and location is great, since it is right behind the bus station. On the other hand, rooms are old and tatamis are made of plastic instead of straw which make you feel in a...

We had booked our accomodation for one night in Takachiho at a Ryokan well in advance, but about a week before we were to arrive in Takachiho we received an email to say our ryokan had had a fire and they were unable to keep our reservation. With help from the local tourist information centre they were able to get...
