We had an amazing stay here, the meals are great and onsen was nice. We also booked the private onsen that is free. I love the meals the most as it has a huge variety and carefully prepared and well thought. Only thing is that our room did not have a shower, so we had to shower at the onsen.
Thank Yu Ying

I agree with one of the travellers review, it might not be famous but it definitely touched my heart. Booked the japanese western style room. It was very big and spacious. Can easily fit 4 people in it. It was clean, modern but with japanese touch, and looks new. Turns out they just reopened last summer. I think they underwent a major renovation.

Our room is on the ground floor and overlooking a cherry blossom tree and when we were there it bloomed beautifully and when the wind blows we can watch the petals falling. The outdoor bath itself is clean and modern but small with no view but we purchase the nyutoo tegata and went onsen hopping to yamamizuki , san-ai and yamabiko.

What i like the most was the homey feel of the ryokan. Ryokan ichinoi is a small ryokan, 5 minutes walk uphil situated in the center of kurokawa onsen. It was managed by a small team but they were quick and efficient. When i requested some stuff they will be at my door within minutes. The dinner and breakfast was delicious and pretty too. It felt very healthy. The grilled beef was superb. Some reviewers complained about this but I dont mind having the lunch and dinner served at the hall because I dont want my room to smell like food and it is not a big deal for me. I’ve been to other ryokan in different parts of japan and a lot of them also served meals in their dining hall, so it wasn’t uncommon.

We paid 500usd for a 2 nights stay during cherry blossom period and it was one of the cheapest room + half board we could find online. Staying at a ryokan in kurokawa is expensive and we thought ryokan ichinoi delivers the value for money.

Would want to go back again one day. The oji-san were very nice to us. He picked us up and dropped us back to the bus station and always happily ready to assist us with whatever we need. Thank you ryokan ichinoi, we truly enjoyed our stay. Hopefully we could go back again one day

Stayed here for 1 night in the beginning of May. Payed €279 for the night including breakfast and diner. Note that Onsen tax is not included yet (just a small fee).

Pro's:
- The ryokan is renovated to a nice, modern design. Beautifull wooden material is used throughout the buildings. If you look for it you can still find some traces back from the '80s design.
- Toto washlet
- Beautifull outdoor onsen (rotenburo)
- Shuttle available to the bus stop (which brings you to/from Fukuoka)
- You can buy the Onsen Hopping wooden ticket.
- Large room if you got 201 or 207, with a small garden view.

Con's:
- Small uphill walk from the mainstreet to get to the ryokan.
- In 207 there is something like a computer server directly behind the wall at the head of your bed. Makes a lot of noise, kept me out of my sleep..
- Diner is only served on 1F and not in your room. Wouldn't expect this when you pay €279..
- No welcome tea or explanation how to wear a Yukata. It felt more like the service from a hotel than a personal ryokan touch in that way.

To conclude: the price was too high for what you get. There are better ryokans who offer better service at a lower price.

This is one of the many Ryokans included in the onsen-hopping program.
However it was quite disappointing on the day we went as the only onsen we had accsss to was a really small onsen. In addition there was no proper changing room as it was in the open. there were also leaves inside, which was different from other onsens that were better managed. Perhaps they should consider opening up their other onsens for customers with onsen hopping passes, to make it worth the while to climb up the hill to their ryokan :)

We spent 2 days in this ryokan for momiji and it was fantastic!
The staff was very nice and pleasant!
The room was huge for Japan and very clean!
The futon and pillows as usual in ryokan were a bit too hard for me but very good quality
Tea and biscuits are in the room for your use as for yukata, traditional bath sponge towel and a kit for cleaning
The outside bath onsen is amazing and I was a lot alone in it :)
The breakfast is a Kaiseki which is a bit hard for me in the morning but was very nice!
I will surely come back if I come to kurokawa again
Little note, the hotel is a bit far by feet from the bus stop but really we did it with 2 big luggages
