This hotel can be reached by a set of stairs that led UP to it, and is about 5 min from ferry area or just up the driveway from the bus stop. They spoke fair English, better then most we have encountered so far, and gave us all the info on the hotel, like wifi in the lobby area only, TV stations, tourist info on the side of the lobby, public bath times, dinner and bfast. Then showed us our room. Reasonable size with a fantastic view over the water. We had tea and a local sweet upon arrival, a low chair, cushions, and a fridge with our own shower, bath and toilet. Entry area had the toilet, safe and fridge, along with the closet with Yukatas etc, and hangers for our stuff. The public bath has a round window all around the room that also overlooks the water. We had ordered a dinner for our arrival night and while expensive, very good. We have noticed that the dinners tend to be as much if not more than the overnight itself. This meal had lots of food and was very tasty. The one thing however that we have noticed in our travels and eating, is that the Japanese serve their offerings on lots of little different plates with lots of variety, which is good but lots of dishes to wash, plus it ends up being a large amount of food. They also salt their foods to an excess, esp for us as we don’t prepare our food with salt at all at home unless the recipe for baking needs salt for the rising etc. So for us the food can taste just like salt and nothing else vs an enhancement of the flavor. We got up and ate our first bfast here. They had a cook your own fish on a small grill, pickled veggies, salad, some cold veggies, rice, tea, raw egg, and the sweet almost like baked bean dish. The coffee was good and the meal was not too large, tho still a bit over salty. We did notice that the Japanese guests tended to wake early and make loud conversation and slam doors without consideration for other guests in the hotel. I would absolutely recommend this place, that while large, 120 people, still gives a homey feel. The room we got had such a fantastic view, the private toilet/shower was nice, the service was good, and while their English wasn’t as good as some places, it was much better than most. I also had a great conversation with my limited Japanese and phrase book and the manager and her English from junior high. Wifi is good in the lobby and nonexistent in the rooms. The guy that drove us also asked us some questions and did a great job of carrying on conversation with us . Very pleasant and friendly people on staff. Nice location.…
