Detailed Reviews
If you have to stay in Tomamu for any reason and do not wish to pay for the price of Tomamu resort, this might be your second choice.
Overall food is good but small portion. Room is dated but with a portable air con & fan in my room. Ladies toilet is ok but I've heard a bit of complaints about boys toilet from Dad.
Owner is nice and friendly but the helper wasn't as nice and his service and manner was terrible according to Japanese standard & culture. I never expect that I will need to service myself during dining. This might be due to the barrier of language where the helper is the only one who can speak fair English.
Next time I will pay a bit more for the resort close by.

We stayed in the triple room for 1 night with the view of Mt tomamu from our window. The cheese fondue dinner was tasty (though it might have been even better if the chef refrained from using cherry tomatoes in almost every dish... appetizer, soup, salad, fondue and the angel hair pasta). The bathroom is spacious and the tub is like a small pool that fits 4 or 5 people easily. The auberge is right by a main road from the highway to Hoshino Resort. On the up side, you can find the auberge easily if you go toward Hoshino (note that you can't find the auberge on GPS. You have to use a google map with your cell phone.) On the down side, the car noise is inevitable even late at night (and the room was unbearably hot for some reason so that we couldn't close the windows -- it'd be nice if the owner provides a fan in the room). It's just a 5-min drive away from the Unkai Terrace gondola and it's very convenient. I'd give 5 stars for location, but only 3 stars for the room.

good thing I like is private onsen where whole family can take onsen at the same time together. the other great thing is trying the snow mobile right in front of the place, good experience. though, many things can be improved, e.g. hotel facility, breakfast quality and map/direction
