Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The outward appearance of the hotel is very quaint. However, the decor inside was very dated and basic - almost hostel-like in its amenities. You can get a kettle and utensils from a common cupboard outside. The heater in the room looked like it was gas-based. It was near impossible to control the temperature in the room. One moment, it was too cold, the next moment, it was way too hot and we had to open a window to cool the room down. We also had to turn the shower on and leave the bathroom door open to humidify the room because the heater dried the air in the room out excessively. The bright spot was, wifi was incredibly fast! Breakfast had to be staggered as they only had a small dining area. It was very quaint, with a huge fireplace in it. Breakfast was bento-box style. Adequate. It doesn't look like there is lift access to this hotel, and there is a long flight of stairs up to the lobby area from the ground level. We had to haul our luggage up the snow-covered steps to get there. Unless there is alternative access, which I didn't see, it is not handicap-friendly.

Not great, not terrible either. Non-smoking rooms seem to mean they don’t have an ashtray in them, despite the stink of decades of smokers. No onsen either, just the standard knees under your chin Japanese bath cubicle. I’ll stay somewhere else next time....

I stayed in this hotel in January for 10 days. The hotel is quite basic. There's a free shuttle bus to and from the resort and Tomamu station. They put the clean towels and sheets on the floor outside the room, which is a bit dirty I think. The place seemed clean and the breakfast is good. I had a great time at this place, coming back from an exhausting day to a conversation in broken English and some quiet time. It's not as convenient as staying on the mountain so I'd recommend this place for people on short trips to Tomamu or if the resort hotels are booked out. There's a cafe (open 1100-1500), a ramen shop (1700-2400) and a izakaya a short distance from the hotel

We stayed at Gracy Tomamu for two nights while we skied at Tomamu Resort. We had reserved a room for 4 people. There was two regular beds in the room, and there was a mezzanine with a tatami and some mattresses. Those who seeped on the tatami found them pretty confortable. Room was clean. Breakfast was included in the room charge! First day, we had a traditional Japanese breakfast (very good!) and the other one a western-style breakfast. We had to pay for the dinner and they were ok (grilled meat and fish on the table grill). Staff is helpful and friendly. Be advised that they don't speak English! You are limited to 15 minutes of Wi-Fi in the lobby only. The hotel is very close to Tomamu resort witch is good. We've paid 62 400 JPY for 2 nights plus 17 290 JPY for food charges. So, that was expensive for only one room.

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Gracy Tomamu. The hotel is easy to find if driving. The check in was very straight forward and staff friendly and helpful. Little English spoken but this is to be expected and did not pose an issue for us at all. The room was so large!! The traditional Japanese dining table and tatami maps were great as was the deep Japanese style bath. The room was really warm and beds comfortable. The hotel is within very easy driving distance of Tomamu Ski Resort. Recommend staying here!

cleanliness is good, you can tell they put effort in it but the place is just too old.there is grill in the restaurant, the meat oily smell all over the entire ground floor, which is our room in. I still smell it on the next morning. when we check in at night time, place is dark with green spot light on the wall, together with the old decorating, it look like a haunting house to me. with euro90 for a twin room, it is too expensive for me.
