This was our 4th trip to Japan and our first time at Elk. It is situated near several restaurants and Echoland. The bus stops to the ski resorts are close. Justina and her staff are good fun and happy to go out of their way to help with local knowledge or with a lift to the rental shop, other ski...

Staying at Elk is like staying with relatives. The staff go out of their way to make everybody feel welcome - even extending to going out on the town, to local events, and driving you to your whatever each day (ski resort, board hire, doctor's appointment, onsen etc). It's certainly not 5 star and doesn't pretend to be, but if...

A great western style cosy place! Great service with a very friendly vibe. Hot bacon and eggs breakfast every morning and they will even give you a lift to the ski fields when they are not busy. Thanks Team!

We had the time of our lives spending Christmas and New Years at the Elk. We found everything that we expected and more. We couldn't fault value for money - the rooms were very comfortable, we were close to free bus shuttles that took us to all the mountains in Hakuba Valley, a five minute walk to a host of...

We were greeted by friendly staff on arrival who were happy to show us around and make us feel welcome. Stayed for a week and loved it. Justina who runs the lodge always had great suggestions on where to have dinner and booked for us, then gave us a lift if needed. Rooms are clean and comfortable. We loved the...

Stayed here for three nights. Highly recommend. Lovely comfy King beds with cosy big duvets and linen. Justina who runs the place can't do enough ensure you enjoyed your stay (dinner recommendations, lifts to places if the shuttle isn't running). Lounge has a bar that you can meet in from 4pm to have a drink/ light snack by the fire...

We stayed 4 nights and loved our stay at Elk. Justina and her staff were welcoming and very helpful. Breakfasts were tasty and there was a large fruit bowl which you could help yourself to all day. Lounge and dining area had a good atmosphere. We were not expecting 4 or 5 star so we were fine with the room...

Our family of 2 adults and 4 grown-up kids stayed here in January - we really enjoyed the lodge - the staff were so helpful - nothing was too much trouble. Justina does a fantastic job ! We've just had a lovely 3 nights at Elk. Massive dump of snow whilst we were there, go to Hakuba now!! Justina is an excellent host, she was very keen to make sure we had fun and made the best of our time there. The shuttle is a minute from the house but locals (mostly Justina) gave us lifts all...
