Stayed in the Alps Retreat 1 Chalet. New build and my word was it beautiful. The service was amazing from start to finish. Communication through whatsapp was great from organising shuttles to places to ordering Pizza (which was delivered to the chalet!). The place was clean, tidy had everything you needed and more (netlfix, wifi, Apple TV, coffee machine... Underfloor heating 😍). We were shown how to use the Japanese washing machine and detergent was supplied.
We were picked up from multiple places and if it was too far they were always happy to drop you to connecting buses even early in the morning. There is a little short cut down a 'goat track' that comes out right by the Gondala so easy access to the slopes. Overall these guys are amazing and we will all be back for sure next season. Thank you 😊

The staff here get an A+ for service, even for someone like me who didn't stay with them.

My son and I came here for a pizza dinner on our last night in Hakuba. The hotel has the custom of patrons taking their shoes off at the entrance, and using the slippers provided inside the hotel and restaurant. The food was excellent, and the lady at the bar even gave the TV remote for us to choose what to put on.

Anyway, post dinner, I couldn't find my shoes anywhere. We soon realized that someone else accidentally took my Timberland shoes instead of theirs when they left the hotel for the evening. The staff kicked into action. One of the drivers thought she knew who's shoes they were, and ran to the restaurant where she thought he was. Unfortunately, that didn't work out. They then lent me one of their own gum boots so I had something to wear, and had a second driver drop us home. They also took my phone number, and have promised to call if the person comes back this evening. The drivers resume work tomorrow morning and shall drop the shoes off before we head off tomorrow morning.

The hotel was completely not at fault here, but several of their staff went out of their way to help. I'm really grateful for their help, and I absolutely HAVE to stay here next time, simply to support such awesome people. I hope you do the same.

If you want a home away from home feel when you go to Hakuba then this is the place for you. From being offered a pair of slippers to wear during our stay, picking us up from and dropping us to the Happo One Bus Terminal, offering to take me into town because it was on their way and needing ice for a sprained ankle, nothing was too much trouble. Their communication before we left home was second to none, they answered our questions, offered to make bookings for us and gave us many tips to make our stay effortless. Their pizzas were delicious, the best espresso martini I've ever had and breakfast...well our made to order breakfast every morning amazing. From Eggs Benedict to Pancakes plus pastries, cereal, toast and fruit, we really didn't need anything until lunch.
Our room, number 7, was just big enough for adults which included a fold out bed for the 4th person. It was a 5 minute walk to Tokyo Hotel to get the shuttle bus to the ski lifts or into town. Truly friendly and welcoming staff where nothing is too much trouble.

Stayed in their Yuki chalet for 2 nights. Before the trip already felt that they are not responsive to inquiries. Hence i don't really have a good impression to start with.
They are quite puncture in picking us (a group of 9 people) up from the bus terminal. Brought us to our chalet and i must say the chalet is better than what we have imagined. Quite spacious for us and the kitchen is also well equipped.
I think almost all their staff are Caucasian and they are not really friendly. Maybe because i am a chinese. They definitely speak friendlier to other caucasian guest as i witness it myself when we are in the same van going to the supermarket with other guests. The staff in the main building also gave me the wrong information, that my show shoe tour for the next day is cancelled. I didn't receive any cancellation notice from the service provider. Hence after i clarified with the service provider, the tour was not cancelled at all.
We ordered their famous pizza on our 1st night, they staff at the restaurant serve with no smile. And they couldn't even remember my order at one go.
They stated in their website that they can help you call this and do that, but when i approached them to help me contact the service provider for my snow mobile tour, they said i got to do it myself.
My sister has got a skiing lesson and need to be at the skiing place by 9.40am. The hotel has kindly offered to give her a lift and she requested them to pick her up at 9am. When they arrived, they told my sister that the queue to take the cable car is very long and told her they will come back and pick her at 9.30am. But they were late and only came at 9:50am. By the time my sister reached the place for the skiing lesson, she was already very late and wasn't allow to take the class. She had to explained and wait at the place for more than 2.5 hours before the skiing school agreed to provide a refund since they could not give them a replacement lesson.
Frankly, am very disappointed with their service and given their expertise in handling guests from different country for so long, they just seem so unprofessional. No matter how nice the chalet is, i simply do not wish to come back again.

Great location with friendly helpful staff. Room size was good with balcony too.Our room easily made us comfortable-2 adults and 1 teenager. Pizzas and breakfast really good and afternoon tea on arrival back from the slopes a nice touch. The common room is well equipped. Washing is easy. Gondola nearby via goat track or the shuttle bus stop only 150m away. Wifi mostly good.

Morino lodge blew all expectations. We are so grateful for our time spent at Morino. The staff are incredible & go above & beyond for their guest. Breakfast was awesome each morning & the pizza restaurant is absolutely delicious!!
Great central location! Close to bus stop for slopes & close to restaurants & town.

We originally planned for an air bnb but we are so glad we stayed at Morino instead. Made our trip easy & great.

The worst part about this place?
Is having to leave.

We can’t wait to visit again!

We`re a family of skiers (and one snowboarder) and have been all over the globe on ski holidays with some memorable ones indeed. This year we decided to see what Japan was all about and spent one week in Niseko and the next in Hakuba. It was a memorable experience indeed......in fact, we`re calling it our best ski holiday ever!

Niseko was fun (although a little bit overrun with fellow Aussies) but it was Hakuba that blew us away. So much snow, so much terrain, great restaurants & culture, and an excellent place to stay called Morino Lodge!

Morino offered exactly the kind of experience we were after. beautiful location, nice rooms, great food (you have to try the "nabe night" every Wednesday - best Japanese food we had!), a beautiful lounge room where an international collection of guests relax and socialize in the evenings, lots of games & activities for the kids, and a wonderful friendly atmosphere.

Special mention has to be made of the staff. Craig, Jen & the 2 Matts were awesome! These guys know Hakuba inside out and made sure we made all the right moves. So we got the best restaurants, best hire gear, best ski school, & of course the best snow (Hakuba`s got a lot of resorts and some are better on some days).

Wholeheartedly i recommend Morino Lodge & Hakuba.......may be the best ski vacation you`ll ever have!

We had the most amazing ski vacation in Hakuba whilst staying at the Big Bear Chalets (run by the Morino Lodge). The chalet itself was exactly what we were looking for. 2-3 bedrooms, private onsen, fully equipped kitchen, living area with digital tv and dvd. All located in the best area of Hakuba...Wadano village.
The staff at Morino was outstanding as everyone has said. They went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed while at the chalet. The 2 Matts, Craig and Jen were all very helpful in activities in the area and helping us with directions.
What we didn't realize when we booked our vacation was the fact that we were literally in Olympic Village on the site of the 98 Nagano Olympics. We skied on the Olympic course (we could walk to the base at Happo One!), went to the top of the ski jump (I don't recommend going all the way up if you are afraid of heights like me), and got to see all the museums and memorabilia from that event! Our children received great ski lessons from Evergreen Outdoor Center which picked us up steps from our chalet. The skiing was literally the BEST skiing of our lives with fresh powder daily and many difficulty levels to chose from.
We cannot recommend Morino Lodge and all of it's accommodations highly enough!!! We are already planning a trip back as soon as we can.
***On a side note - we went the week before Christmas and it was still considered pre-season. There was tons of snow already but without tons of people. We were literally the ONLY people to tour the ski jump area as well as the ONLY people to go sledding at the Sakka lift area. We loved it!!! Very quiet as people/staff are just getting to the area so it is mostly locals and staff - so it was great. The only downfall is some restaurants were not open - but with our own kitchen - we could cook whatever we needed! I highly recommend that time of year as it gave much more personalized attention!!!!

We wanted to stay here longer as we loved it so much.
We travelled here from Australia for Christmas with our 9yr old daughter and 6month old son. We felt like part of the family when we arrived. Our room was huge and very clean. It had a cute little balcony. Down stairs is a huge lounge room which we just loved sitting in. It was so nice relaxing by the Christmas tree watching it snow outside. Every afternoon there is free afternoon tea and happy hour drinks at the bar.
The location is ok but they hotel offer shuttle busses to most places we needed to go. For the slopes, you walk 3 minutes down the road to another hotel and there’s free shuttles. A lot of restaurants pick you up and drop you off to.
For ski hire, the Lodge call them for you and they also pick you up and drop you off for fitting.
Elle and Tori at the Lodge made all our dinner bookings, recommended activities and organised all our lifts. They were absolute champions.
The Breakfast was amazing! I was so surprised as we were not expecting a lot. They had all the standard things (cereal, toast, juice, tea etc) but then also had a hot option everyday which was unreal. This morning was breakfast bruschetta, yesterday’s pear porridge and the day before smashed avo on sour dough with scrambled eggs. It was so yummy plus good muffins.
They even make barista coffee in the morning.
They have washing facilities.
The Pizza at the hotel Was delicious especially after a long day snowboarding, it’s nice to relax and not have to leave the hotel. Our Tv has Netflix, Apple TV. In the main Lounge area they also have the wii set up and kids toys.

My family and I will definitely be back!
Thankyou to Tori, Elle, Gabbi and Gemma! You guys made our stay perfect. And one of the guys loved entertaining our baby- i can’t remember his name but was such a legend.

Also they even put Christmas stockings on all the doors on Christmas Day. My daughter loved it! Luckily my husband opened what we thought was water and he smelt a strong alcohol smell! Lol

One negative.. staff smoking at the front door :( a few times we had to walk through there smoke with the kids :(

Plus:
Very comfy house, complete kitchen. The groceries runs and picks ups were convenient. the lady arranging transfers was very helpful. Close to the slopes and restaurants.

Cons:
Late check in - even later than the 3 pm despite check out being 11 am! Despite knowing that we had traveled 24 hours from Malaysia and then taken a 6 hour drive from Tokyo airport straight to Hakuba, we were casually informed the chalet will be late. Not impressed.
Dishwasher didn’t work and took a while to repair - no responses from the number we were asked to WhatsApp for any problems, despite it being read.
The ski rental place recommended by Morino forgot our kids ski sticks, gave our kids clothes that were the wrong size. Being first time skiers we accepted when they said the too short pants were fine. My girls ended up with heaps of snow in their boots because their pants were hanging and exposed their boots - imagine having soaking wet ice cold socks for 4 hours on the slopes. My 4 year old was miserable and I could not figure out why until we got back and I could wring ice cold water from her socks. We ended up going back 3 times to pick up forgotten gear/change size/change dry boots. Advertises itself as a premium rental but I felt it fell short.
