Alupu is a very quaint & cosy accommodation. The location is amazing - metre's away from the slopes & close walking distance to many lovely restaurants The owner is friendly - and wants you to enjoy Japan - English is limited or should I say my Japanese is limited but enough to be nice The rooms are old & dated... I have stayed at this place 3 years in a row now, loved it everytime. Its ran by an elderly woman who is super nice..(some reviews here claim shes rude, however from my experience the only people who think that are super ignorant tourists who seem insulted that the staff cant speak english that well). the Roof top jacuzzi was... To start with i would have to agree with many reviews ive read on different sites about Alupu. It is old, a little run down and thread bare, the owner doesn't speak much English and breakfast is basic. Having said that, im booked in for this coming season for my 4th stay over the last few years. Don't expect 5... More

This place seems to be run mostly by one elderly lady. She is quite nice but does not speak much English. The place is pretty budget/backpacker and there's not much room for lounging around. Its fairly dingey and there's little privacy with the common toilets. The showers are on the 4th floor but there are small hot baths (onsens) in... More

I struggled with this, should this be poor? or average? Lets break it down. Pro's - Cheap, beds reasonably comfortable, very close to main gondola, almost to the point of ski in/ski out Con's - Owners aren't the friendliest and speak practically no english. Rooms are tiny meaning it is a constant struggle of getting things in and out of... More

If you are expecting to stay in a nice place, this is NOT the place for you. Yes, it is close to the ski fields but that is IT. All it possibly has to offer. Perhaps we were spoilt after having boarded in Nozawa Onsen for the past week, but when we arrived at Alupu it was a nightmare. We... More

This place was fantastic! Breakfast is served every morning hot and tasty, and it's a 20 metre walk across the road to the ski runs, and then you ski about 100m down to the gondola. Our room was HUGE with a tatami room with low table and tv, a bedroom with sink, and a bathroom with sink, toilet and shower/bath.... More
