I have been back here twice with the family. Very affordable, clean, warm and excellent location for skiing. All you need when you are out skiing all day every day. Complimentary onsen (hot springs) passes are perfect for sore legs every night! Ski shuttle for all mountains stops right outside.

This was a clean and reasonably priced lodge in the mid range. Close to bus stops and restaurants and bars. Closer enough to walk into Hapo shops. I would recommend for families, couples and a mates trip away.

Stayed here for 4 nights in Feb 2016. The rooms were fine, could do with a bit of re decorating, but nothing wrong with them. The staff were very helpful, the manager even took us back to the train station when we checked out. Skiing in the area is very good, there is a free shuttle bus right outside the... More

Hotel was slightly old but very clean. Rooms were well insulated and warm. Hotel staff were very friendly and knew enough english to satisfy any request. There is free WiFi in the downstairs area, however it does not reach many rooms. If you're worried about always having the internet check out travelsimdirect.com There was a bus stop right outside that... More

Great price compared with other accomodation in the area. Great location in echoland with free bus to slopes right out the front. The staff are amazingly helpful even with communication barrier. We tried to tip the manager for helping us on our stay and he refused the money even running away from us after he dropped our bags to bus... More

Stayed here for 5 nights this ski season. Located in the Eco Village, close to Happo (about a 10-15 minute walk) The bus stops right out the front!! Rooms are good with private bathrooms. Twin singles, TV and small fridge. Wifi is good but dropped off in my room during peak use. Lots of good places to eat and drink... More

The rooms we're basic, includes two single beds, TV, kettle, lounge. Bar fridge Also comes with two sets of wabaki and a gown. The beds were comfortable and the heating was quite nice (we actually had to turn it down it worked so well) Breakfast had eggs but no bacon so that's a bit weird, and heaps of deep fried... More

Although it would have been more appropriate to be in The Winter's Tale, we were happy with The Sonnets, a cosy double room with a two-seater sofa, a small dressing-table and a decent sized bathroom with lashings of hot water. The room also had a pleasant view out over the courtyard and the mountains beyond do that we could get... More

Overall, just an absolutely brilliant stay! I'll mention a few cons just so people are aware, but please don't think that they affected my stay, it was just wonderful. The staff were AWESOME and so kind, Echo land is so, so much fun, just brilliant. Cons... The disgusting stink of smoke... Could be easily improved by designating an outside smoking... More

We stayed in the Shakespeare hotel in Jan 2015. The rooms are basic (about on par with Australian hotel/motel standard accomodation. I didn't notice that the carpet was stained and the room certainly didn't sell like smoke (something I was worried about form other reviews). the bathroom was small but had a nice deep bath. Really this accomodation is very... More
