Overnight stay to Sapporo. Arrived evening and checked in very fast. Old clean and very large room. Wooden floor with antique furniture. Large bathroom with separate bathtub. Quite a distance walk to nearby places but restaurant inside is good enough.

We had to hold our breath while using an elevator due to cigarette smell. There are no stairs to use to go upper floors (except for the dining rooms in the 2nd floor). The non-smoking room was really stinky with tobacco smell. The hotel staff promptly changed the room and the new room was fine, but it's questionable to offer such room as a non-smoking room to begin with. We were explained that the particular room (which is close to an elevator) must have gotten the smell from the upper floor as the upper floor is a smoking floor. The hallway leading to the elevator smelled like cigarette. The next morning, the front lobby smelled like cigarette.

The room was nice. Clean and very spacious. The bathroom was spacious as well, with a deep bathtub. Shampoo/soap set was very fragrant and nice to skin. The ventilation needs to be improved to remove the moisture quickly.

The view from the room was great! It appears that all guest rooms have mountain view, facing east.

The food was good. The hotel staff grow veggies and offer as ingredients of dinner & breakfast. They were okay, but we were expecting more... more big flavorful Furano veggies! The idea is good, though.
The restaurant staff for the breakfast failed to mention that there were certain breakfast items we could freely pick and choose from the table (away from the table we sat). We found out only after we were basically done with our breakfast. We felt like we missed out, they should have been clear what was available for us.

The location was very nice, on the top of a hill. Morning walk was great!
The staffs who served dinner (a lady and a gentleman) were so friendly.

Nothing to say about the place in itself, but our stay was somehow awkward. We went to Furano for skiing and due to a lack of availability in other accommodations we ended up in this hotel, which appeared to us as some kind of business hotel or a holiday place for large groups from a past time, and made us feel a little sad. It might just be our impression due to lack of knowledge of Japan‘s holiday resorts, though. And due to the skiing turning out to be bad.

The corridor is filled with cigarette smell, and the room is worn as shown in the pics. It appears that they have done no renovation since its establishment. The hotel stands on a hill, and it looks nice from a distance. They simply have not kept up with its attractive location (20 min to Naka Furano, the heart of the flower gardens) nor have they provided a cleaner ambience. Interestingly, despite all these time-lagged managerial attitudes, the toilet comes with an automatic cover--as you enter the bathroom, it automatically opens (!).

I booked a double room non smoking. When I arrived they told me they only had camp sites. They did not care that I didn't book a camp site and was left without a room. In the end they refunded half my money but I shouldn't have to pay anything for their mistake. The staff were rude and unconcerned about it.

We are a party of 4 persons on a 7-day self drive Hokkaido trip. Our first stop after touch down was Furano. We settled for this hotel in Kami-Furano as we are unable to book any rooms in Furano itself.

Overnight parking at Furano Hops was free as they have a huge open-air carpark. As the hotel is up on a hill, we dropped off the luggages at the front entrance before parking the car.

Check-in was fuss-free handled by an elderly gentleman who looked stern but was polite.

We were pleasantly surprised by the size of the room which is huge by Japanese standards. However, room facilities were rather aged and in dire need of upgrading or refurbishment.

Our room package included dinner and breakfast. Dinner was a mere one-dish affair (curry rice, carbonara or pork cutlet). Wasn't good at all for someone with a discerning tongue. Breakfast was Japanese-styled but with some western ads on such as bread and croissants. Much better than the dinner we got.

For the price you pay, I will try other hotels in the future.

There are not many hotels in Kamifurano and this one stands out as it was perched up on the hill. As many has reviewed, the view was spectacular and you can actually see the giant Kuan Yin statue on the right side of the hotel. Plenty of parking space and its free, how refreshing!! But please note that this hotel is good if you drive as it may be a problem using public transport. Even if the JR station is not far, it would be a struggle for guests to walk up the slope with heavy luggages....totally not recommended!!

Room size was humongous, 30 sqm is really a luxury in Japan. The room has 2 super single beds which was very comfortable. Did not like the comforter which was badge in colour as it makes the rooms quite dated. But then again it was comfortable. The room has a double sofa with a coffee table so can have some snacks and coffee (none provided in the room though, just tea) whilst watching TV. Need to change kettle system as not practical to have the hotplate with such a tiny metal jug. Too arcade.

The room has a great view and windows could be opened! What a relief so that we could have some fresh air as the rooms were all with heater instead of aircon. Could get very stuffy as we found out from other hotels.

Great bathroom, separated with door fm the toilet bowl so very practical & dry. Water pressure was good. Big bottles of toiletries like shampoo, conditioner and bathing gel were provided. Actually was a bit amused by the bath as it has the traditional option where you can sit on a stool to bathe using the same shower head.

Noted that the Japanese restaurant not opened for dinner which is not good as there was not many places to eat in Kamifurano so the hotel should provide more options for the guests.

Breakfast was adequate with a bento set for each guest but guests have access to a buffet spread of bacon, croissants, buns, butter & jam, rice, miso soup, salads, fruits, juices & coffee. Quite decent as included in the room rates. More than enough to eat to start the day.

Overall, the hotel is really value for money. Would recommend it without hesitation.

The hotel is located in a country setting, about a kilometre from the railway station. With large grounds and ample parking, it is best suited to car travel. The hotel is on a hill looking toward the mountains, the Tokatsudake range, including an active volcano. The entrance can be easily located by the large standing Kannon at one corner of the grounds overlooking Hwy. 273.

The building is modern, low-rise with something of a country club atmosphere. There are only 35 rooms, apparently all with mountain views, but ask for an upper floor for the best view. The hotel is totally non-smoking, a rarity in Japan. The lobby is small, but has a small but very good store with local products and souvenirs. There are also good vending machines.

Our room was western with a Japanese bathroom. It was quite large, but rather a cold atmosphere with hardwood floors and no rugs. The furniture was fairly plain dark oak and fairly sparse, and the twin beds a bit soft. All was in good condition and very clean. There was a smallish writing desk and a refrigerator. We could have used luggage stands and bedside tables, especially for a longer stay. The hotel provided nightshirt-type yukatas. The Japanese bathroom and western toilet/washroom were the best of both. There was lots of counter space, although not very good light for shaving.

There are both Japanese and western restaurants within the hotel. On check-in we were asked to choose whether to have Japanese or western dinner and breakfast - both were included with the room. We chose Japanese for both. Dinner was a set menu, not as elaborate as a ryokan meal, but well-prepared and tastefully presented, and including both local and seasonal dishes. They claim to use their own organically grown vegetables. Breakfast the next morning was also a set menu, entirely adequate, and again with some local specialties.

This was not the most luxurious hotel we encountered in Hokkaido, but it was one of the best values for money, and was low-key, comfortable and relaxing. The staff are friendly and accommodating. Although we were just passing through Kamifurano, this would seem to be a good base to explore the area, especially by car. It is only 40 km. from Asahikawa.

We arrived by car on a quiet day for the hotel and parked right at the front door. Lobby and elevator had a faint smell of cigarettes, but not too bad. Room was great- great view on a sunny day, clean and spacious, working air cond. It had a quaint feel to it- same as the rest of the hotel. There was a handwritten welcome note, which was a nice touch. Bathroom was impressive and seems quite new, with all the amenities. We had a good, affordable dinner at their restaurant (they have pasta, wagyu beef, salmon, pork) and great conversation with their maitre de, who was so generous to us and friendly. Great stay!
