The Adagio, is located nearby the beautiful town of Biei, you can enjoy visits to local sightseeing spots, sit back on the balcony to relax at dusk, or read one of the many books provided for vistors’ perusal. The bedrooms are large and each offers a touch of class with a very modern feel, while the French windows and balconies boast breath-taking views overlooking the picturesque valley and sea. The service at the Adagio is of a very high standard and the staff dedicates itself to ensuring that guests have as comfortable a stay as possible. As the title of the homestay suggests, the Adagio prides itself on its unique approach to relaxation and your stay there is very much about escaping the noises and demands of everyday life. The restaurant located on the first floor shares this same philosophy and encourages everyone to savor their meals slowly to inspire the sense of taste. The restaurant’s recipes are unique and the ingredients feature the freshest seasonal offerings possible. The Adagio is, indeed, a uniquely tranquil and peaceful home away from home where you can refresh your mind and store your spirit.

Location: if you don't drive, you can arrange pick up from Biei stn. Very tranquil setting with trees and birds. We stayed two very enjoyable nights
Service: very Friendly and hospitable team. Excellent dinner, Breakfast is good, Just hope the toast at breakfast could be changed into bread roll and guest could pay to order more drinks(juice). I bring my own tea, staff are very accommodating to offer mug and hot water to enjoy in the library.
Room: very clean, cozy, towels and toiletries are available that is rare with a pension. Equipped with a CD players on the wall, many genre of CDs to choose from Library. Only at times families with kids could make meal time rowdy. Our first dinner was arranged in the library with another couple, that was quiet and enjoyable.
It is an excellent option in Biei. We will return in winter

We booked a room directly through their website and the staff responded very quickly via email. All staff could speak Japanese, English and Chinese, which seems to be very popular amongst Asian travellers. The room is quite big with a balcony and a small bathroom, what’s nice is that we could book to use the public hot bath. The pension is quite remote and around 10-minute drive from Biei center. No TV in the room but they have free wifi. One tip is to arrange dinner at Auberge Adagio or eat early as most of the local restaurants close before 8pm.

What a welcome to be greeted in familiar language when we arrived. The big smiles from the Taiwanese staff warmly welcomed us as we disembark from the car. The whole place is run just like a typical Taiwan minsu, making guests feel right at home. The housekeepers mingled with the guests well, just like long-lost friends. Guests, too, mingled with each other during meals. It felt like a great gathering. Great scenery surrounding the hotel, which is nestled amongst plantations. You need a GPS to get to the place though, as it's off the beaten path. Rooms are big, with a king and queen bed plus a small loft for kids. Fantastic dinner which makes us all over eat. Money worth spending! We will definitely re-visit again when we next go Hokkaido.

It's like how you see it in brochures or postcard. Colorful flower plantations in a bright sunny day after a long drive did give some feast for the eye. A little too commercial though, and plenty of tourists make the area less genuine.

We stayed one night in this B&B and it felt very homely. We drove in from Asahikawa and we had no problems finding the place due to the B&B sharing the mapcode with us.The property had a very European forest feel to it, sort of tucked in behind the trees and beyond it is surrounded by the picturesque Patchwork Road area.
Upon arrival, we were treated with some snacks and tea as we admired the Patchwork Road area from the dining room. Our assigned room was upstairs and the door had a picture of our family taken during our arrival. The room was simple - it had a wall-mounted CD player, attached WC and bath and two beds (one super single and one queen-sized). There was no TV but there is free wifi.
Dining was simple and home-cooked. Our dinner and breakfast were locally prepared and we had no issues with the dishes.
Overall, very comfortable stay. A place to return to should we re-visit Biei in the future.

This is a picturesque cottage as mentioned by all reviewers. My family of 5 (including an elderly, 1 teenager and 1 child) simply love this place at first sight.
We missed our flight from Tokyo and reached this place around 8pm and nearly missed the dinner time. The staff were kind enough to reserve food for us and made us feel right at home instantly. Food serving was slow as they spent great efforts in preparing cuisines and not just food. Every dish was like a piece of art as shown in attached photos. Though the taste may not be consistently good, the presentation scored full mark.
We stayed in 2 family rooms on second floor and love the fact that it has CD player and free WIFI in each room. Both rooms come with attic and big teddy bears. My kids were so happy with their rooms and even my mum was smiling cheek to cheek. That really made our day! We like our rooms that come with attic. There are 2 queen size beds and 1 single bed at attic, big enough for 5 to sleep but I'm glad they gave us 2 rooms so we can have a comfortable 2 night stay there. Thumbs up!
There is also a library on the same floor with splendid farm view, a nice place for hubby and I do our morning yoga. They also provide free bikes for us to cycle around. You get to see many beautiful flowers along the road.
This place is quiet, beautifully decorated and clean. Excellent and friendly service was what made our 2 nights stay so comfortable. We will definitely like to stay here again if we visit Biei again.

The Adagio has 3 branches, 2 in Taiwan and one in Hokkaido. It is owned by a Taiwanese boss, so the staff are well - trained and speak both Mandarin and Japanese. We were welcomed by a team of cheerful staff when we arrived just in time for the dinner.
The rooms are big and clean (compared with the local Japanese hotel), but the washroom is small. Towels and toiletries are available. Equipped with a CD player on the wall, many CDs to choose from Library.
The lounge area and dining room view is spectacular - of adjacent farmland and farm houses. The rate included multi-course dinners and breakfast which were delicious. Overall, Adaigo is a very good B&B.

Auberge Adagio is a very relaxing country inn. The set-up is cute - with teddy bears and they take a picture of you when you arrive to put at your doorway (inside). Probably geared towards couples but there were families and singles staying there as well on my visit.
The view is spectacular - of adjacent farmland and farm houses. The inside is mostly wooden - warm and comfortable. The included meals are delicious - multi-course dinners and breakfast.
And the town of Biei is a great place to visit, with charming cafes, shops and farm views. Also recommend climbing Asahidake about less than 1 hour drive away - tallest mountain in Hokkaido, but quite manageable once you take the ropeway up. It took us 4 hours return on estimates of 4-5 hour return. It's a volcano - still smoking.

OK - I will not rave but we stayed at 4 hotels/ inns in Hokkaido with our 2 girls, mother in law and sister in law (group of 6), and this place was our favourite. The Adagio has 2 other sister inns in Taiwan and is owned by a taiwanese boss, hence, the fact that the staff are well - trained and speak both Mandarin and Japanese.
The concept seems to be "slow down and smell the flowers" (hence the name)...and we are reminded of this from signs on the toilet seat which says "take your time" and the lounge chairs and benches scattered around the beautiful grounds that beckon you to sit down and relax while enjoying the beautiful scenery. The interior is tastefully and simply furnished (as you can tell from the numerous photos), with seats / sofas strategically placed next to full length full width glass panelled windows looking out to the surrounding plantations / fields. In one word, it gives you a sense of space, and encourages you to breathe.
You are also invited to slow down for meals, with dinner tastefully served in 6 different courses (salad, soup, seafood, meat, soup again, and fruits). Food was generally delicious. This took too long for my hubby who prefers to gobble his food down, but if you like to chat and take your time to taste and enjoy your food, this would be just the thing for you.
We had 2 types of rooms - one room with a skylight, a single and a double bed (adequate for 3 persons). Another room with 2 levels, the lower level with a double bed and a single bed, and a separate bed which you have to climb up to (like a loft) - adequate of 4. Each room had full length windows leading out to small balconies. Beds were soft and comfortable, and the bears welcoming you into the room were a great touch.
They have no onsen, but there is a private hot bath / jacuzzi which you have to book - time is limited to 3 pm to 10 pm, hence you have to book early.
Would I return? In a heartbeat!

After last summer's pleasant stay, decided to return with my spouse. We book very early this year. Don't expect full service like a hotel, yet staff has done extra miles for guests as I observed.
Location: following the mapcode we drove to this quaint and cozy pension after a few wrong turns. Pension could shuttle guests one round trip a day.
Room: All toiletries and towels are provided. Bath room is very small. Room and linens are very clean, so we did not request change of bed linen throughout our stay. Just towels. This stay we booked the Jacuzzi not exactly an onsen fter that guests could take shower in there. There is flask of cold tea to refresh in the change area.
Meals: Room rate includes Breakfast & dinner. Probably there is a change of chef, but dinner is still good. Breakfast may be not ample for males. You need to request for tea/coffee refill. This year, the property added a simple drink menu to the dinner table that guests could order beer, wine, extra glass of grape juice, that's very considerate after reading guests input.
Service: We were welcomed by a warm smiling team with familiar faces like visiting family (only one staff left). Two new staff are also very cheerful, friendly and helpful.
Overall, service
