We were lucky to have a room that faced the river. The view was nice but the river sure was noisy! Overall, this was a typical large, faceless Japanese resort that catered more for tour groups. Breakfast and dinner were buffet style and although the food was not half bad, it was

One of the more expensive hotel in the area but none of its characters are worthy of highlight. It was a buffet dinner and buffet breakfast with adequate variety of food. They were good though not outstanding. Our room, of reasonable size, faced the road and I believe it could

I should have adjusted my expectation considering that Sounkyo is difference from Jozankei near Sapporo. I paid more for Choyo Resort Hotel but got much less enjoyment and satisfaction with the room and the dinner/breakfast. The room was spacious but faced the carpark so there wa

This is a beautiful hotel and onsen tucked away in the forest next to a stream in Hokkaido. Our room was a Japanese-style tatami room. Beautiful. Like stepping back into history. The view from our room was magnificent. We looked out into the forest and could see the stream r

We stayed in a Japanese style room. Our room was large, but the bathroom was uncomfortably tiny and you had to step down into it. Our bedding was actually comfortable, but the pillows were like rocks - very uncomfortable. I was super disappointed that my room faced the parking

I have tried to contact Choyo Resort Hotel, but there is no reply at all. I sent email to book hotel bus in September, and then several reminder this month, even send through "Contact Us" twice, but still no reply at all. I called but they told me the bus back to Sapporo is full, this is totally not acceptable. This is so disappointed and frustrated.
The one and only contact is to call the hotel

Hi, I'm planning to book a Japanese style room for 2 through their website. Does the room come with toilet? Thanks, Jasmine
Hi Jasmine, Yes, and it's clean too! I was there last winter, so this hotel is like an oasis in the middle of the woods. There is a convenient store across the road but that's all the "modern amenities" it has. But it's perfect to getaway from the maddening crowd, just soak in the traditional onsen and enjoy the tatami room. Regards, Lennon
