We stayed here as part of a family ski holiday and received a pleasant welcome upon arrival. The hotel and room were clean, tidy and comfortable. The hotel incorporates convenient access to ski hire & lockers, and is located a short walk to the nearest lift. Good beds and sound insulation lent themselves to getting a good night’s sleep, our only criticism of the room was not having a wash basin in the separate toilet room. We stayed half-board and were pleased with the range & quality of buffet breakfast & evening dinner – particularly the delicious deserts.

During the check-in we were given complimentary glass water bottles, for use with water dispensers on two of the floors – and told this was part of the hotel’s efforts to improve sustainability. This felt like greenwashing to us because sustainability was clearly not high on the hotel’s priority list – each bottle had a neoprene cover and it would be more sustainable if they were collected back at the end of the stay for reuse. The rooms also included complimentary slippers that probably wouldn’t last long – an unnecessary waste of resources.

Overall, the hotel provided a pleasant stay of would happily recommend.

Hello, Thank you for your comment following your stay at the Mercure Arc 1800 & SPA. We are delighted to see that you had a pleasant stay with us. We are setting up little by little actions for the ecology, especially internal actions which are not necessarily visible by our customers like for example a compost or the use of Too Good To Go to reduce food waste. We hope to be able to welcome you back among us. Best regards Chloé - Reception & Services Manager

I booked 6 nights in a valley view room with balcony for a family ski trip. Fast check-in as there was nobody in line. Received a top floor corner room with spectacular 270°views of the valley and surrounding mountains. Renovated room and bathroom (only shower, I missed the bath tub!). Nice wellness center with pool, sauna, hammam and inside jacuzzi. Unfortunately, I was looking forward to use the outside jacuzzi, but it was broken all week. Buffet breakfast with many choices. The evening buffets were nice with almost everyday different themed offerings, but at 40€ without drinks, relatively expensive. The chef's buffet was clearly the best! Friendly and helpful young staff. Easy check-out, correct bill. I did not use the garage as it was too expensive at 30€/night, considering the 5* hotel rate you pay for this 4* hotel. You also need to pay 79€/week to enter the village with free outside parking, which we were lucky to find in front of the hotel. There is an inside parking 50m below the hotel which costs 99€/week. If you book online in advance (minimum 2 days before arrival), you receive a QR code to enter the village.
There is a chair lift, Charmettoger, about 100m walk from the hotel which gives you access to all lifts of the station. Very convenient.

We stayed at Les Arcs 1800 1/17/2020 to 1/25/2020. It is not ski in or out. The food is a buffet, often serving the same food from the previous day. Its location is very inconvenient for access to the slopes, buses and village. The rooms are not cleaned, and the staff often forgets such basics as towels and toilet paper! The beds are comfortable is the best I can do. No room service, or store, and limited hours on the very mediocre breakfast and dinner buffets.

So disappointed. Had this hotel booked since January but arrived after a very long journey to a disappointing stay. No communication from the hotel about the change to their services during the pandemic. We think the least they could do is inform people of the changes especially when they are charging over 185 euros for substandard offerings and not reducing the cost to reflect this. The pool was closed - no notification about that. They must consider that people ar arriving with families !!!!!. There's no welcome letter in the room or info pack telling us what was offered in the hotel and nothing to say how to contact reception with the phone in the room. Info about the parking is lacking. The receptionist did not tell us it's free outside but directed us to the hotel parking (30 euros). Thankfully a kind person outside told us that it is free outside. We only booked this hotel because of the pool so we feel ripped off. It was not worth the additional 25 minute drive up Les Arcs and we should have stayed in Bourg St Maurice. Very disappointed and we would not return.

Dear TizzieBelle, Thank you for sharing your experience on Tripadvisor about Mercure Arc 1800, which has an amazing view on the Tarentaise valley. Please, concerning the services, nothing changed due to pandemic, exepted amenities which are given at Check-in, room clean-up on request, sauna&hammam closed, and no papers in the rooms (including room directories). All the Mercure team remained at your disposal during your stay for any questions and apologize if they didn’t give you the reception phone number. This summer, pool and jacuzzis have been opened EVERYDAY from 9am to 7pm.... The secured parking fee is 15€/day, not 30€... Warm regards

This hotel is unable to help travelers with basic requests. It is decidedly NOT a four-star hotel, even though it charges over $800 euros a night.

I interacted a completely incompetent Bzioui Yassine, who was unable to give a straight answer about childcare options, babysitting or day care centers. Bzioui did not know if any these were available, and also refused to contact any options for me to determine if they were. It is fine to react in such an anti-customer way if you're a two-star motel, which is exactly where Bzioui works.

And, of course, it didn't help that Bzioui constantly addressed me incorrectly. Generally, customers prefer it when you call them by the correct name.

Complete failure. If you're paying less than 200 euros for this place and have NO service expectations, it could be good value.

Altezza is an updated hotel with modern amenities. Unfortunate that’s where the benefits end. The hotel is managed by overworked college kids with little experience. The service is atrocious with a hint of discrimination against anyone not speaking French as foreigners are exiled to the basement for dinner. Long queues to get food, reminiscent of Soviet times. The dinning room consistently missing napkins, silverware and coffee mugs. The omelet station dispenses orders arbitrarily on the French first, others later basis. The bar is overseen by exhausted kids bordering on child labor. No staff to turn on the fireplace and music by the bar. Only area of hotel managed well is the ski room. Foreigners stay away.

Responded 7 Jan 2024
Dear Customer, We are very sorry to hear that your experience at the Altezza did not live up to your expectations, and apologise for any inconvenience you may have experienced. It is regrettable to hear that the service was not up to your expectations and that you felt discriminated against non-French speaking guests. We take these concerns very seriously and will be investigating these issues to understand what happened and put corrective measures in place. Regarding the queues for food, the lack of supply of napkins, silverware and coffee cups, we sincerely apologise for these inconveniences. We will review our procedures and increase our efforts to ensure adequate supplies and a smoother dining experience. We are also concerned about your comments on the bar, fireplace and music. We will be taking steps to improve these aspects to create a more pleasant and welcoming atmosphere. The allegation of surveillance by burnt-out people, particularly young people, is also a serious concern. We will be reviewing our personnel and management policies to ensure that all employees benefit from an appropriate working environment. With regard to the ski room, we are delighted that you found this area well managed, but we understand that this does not make up for the other deficiencies you have noted. We appreciate your feedback and take these issues very seriously. We are actively working to improve our services and create a more positive experience for all our customers. Thank you for letting us know, and we look forward to earning your business again in the future.

Great room, there was 3 of us 2 adults and a 12 year old the configuration with the bunk bed was perfect and he almost had his own room. Food was good. Bar area was cosy and lots for the kids to keep themselves occupied (although at a cost for most things). Buffet was plentiful and good. Staff were helpful.

It’s not ski out but a short walk up the hill you access the whole area. All in all really enjoyed staying here and if we skiing in the area again I wouldn’t hesitate to book again.

I want to share the distressing experience I encountered during my recent stay at this hotel. My aim in sharing this feedback is not only to address the issue of a failed dinner reservation but also to address the underlying issue of racism that was evident throughout the incident.

During the check in on 28 Dec 2023, I made a dinner reservation at your hotel's restaurant at 7pm. This reservation was made well in advance, and I expected it to be honored as arranged. However, upon our arrival at the restaurant, we were informed that no table was available for us. It was disheartening to witness how easily our reservation was disregarded, leaving us without a place to dine but only at the small seminar room. This lack of consideration for our reservation is completely unacceptable and has severely impacted our experience at your hotel.

During the buffet visit on the restaurant, It became apparent that tables were being exclusively allocated to individuals who were identified as French, while others, including myself, were left waiting without any explanation or assistance.

This discriminatory behavior based on nationality is both unacceptable and unlawful. It is deeply distressing to witness such blatant discrimination in a public establishment that should uphold principles of equality and inclusivity.

As a customer, I expect equal treatment and respect, regardless of my nationality. Discrimination undermines the integrity of your restaurant and creates an unwelcoming atmosphere for individuals of diverse backgrounds.

First of all, we would like to sincerely apologise for the lack of consideration you received, particularly with regard to your dinner reservation. We would like to make it clear that none of our staff discriminate against foreign guests. It is possible that at the time of your reservation for the restaurant that the place is not. We have no problems of discrimination or any other kind, and all our staff are obliged to speak English or another language. After reading some of the previous reviews I was slightly worried about the hotel I had booked. Thankfully I got the stay I expected and paid for. The rooms were lovely and beds really comfy. Breakfast was fabulous. Lots of selection for myself, husband and children. The atmosphere in and around the hotel was nice. The staff that we dealt with were all willingly and happy to help. The pool and spa was great, the children loved the outside hot tub. The ski in and out element was ideal with only staying for 4 nights. Evening meal was nice and good value for money. We did try to eat out on the last night in the village but could not get into any of the restaurants and found them quite rude when we asked. So we happily went back to the hotel for our meal. We had a great stay at this hotel and would definitely recommend it and return.

Walk along the platform at bourg (away from the main station building). Go up the footbridge and you'll see signs to the fenicular. Take that up to Les arc 1600. Trains every 20 mins. Then get a bus to Les Arc 1800 at the top station (check you get on the right bus!). Bus timetable is timed to coincide with the fenicular arrival. Bus will take 20 mins to get to Hotel. Charmettoger stop, I recall.
