We stayed at Village Club du Soleil Arc 1800 for one week with our one-year old baby. The hotel is perfect for a family holidays: the club bebe is amazing, staff kind and extremely professional. Many activities were organized during the week, usually at the ski-station which was located 10-minutes walking. We had access to the swimming pool and spa area, highly recommend the swimming pool with Jacuzzi inside and lovely view of the mountains. The location is nice and quiet. Every evening some entertainment (music, karaoke, cabaret) was available in the hotel itself. Buffet was fine, although being Italian I could not approach the pasta (overcooked and used as side dish), but luckily other choices were usually ok. Rooms were nice and big, although some additional equipment may have been useful (i.e. fridge, boiler, locker). Strongly recommended for families with babies and kids.

We were staying in this Club for years, but we decided not to return .
First of all, it is a residence, not a hotel, so it offers a very basic comfoirt. But this year we experienced a lot of problems.
The are only 2 elevators with smaill capacity for the whole residence. Both elevators were often broken and nobody fixed them for hours.
We were waiting for our room from 14.00 till 17.30. Every half hour we were promised to get it withing 15 minutes. Meanwhile a lot of guests arrived after us and got their room. Only when I found a manager of cleaning services and asked her to take care of our room, the situation changed.
The food quality comparing to the previous years is very low, the same food is coming to the buffet for several days. I do not mention the variety of previous years, but I have a feeling that this year they try to make everything as cheap and basic as possible. Including food. One variety of pastry at the breakfast instead of traditional 2, for example. Very poor choice of food for breakfast.
The dinner is now served between 19.00 and 20.30 instead of 21.00. Imagine the crowds!
The room was not really clean. A lot of minor problems like ventilator in the toilet: broken and not fixed during 1 week, the dirty walls in the bathroom.
There were however some positive things: the staff is generally helpful and attentive, The bar is fine as well. The vin chaud just after skying is a great idea!
I would advice management to revise the quality of stay and to think about improvements, otherwise they will loose their regular customers.

How this place gets a four star rating I don't know - it makes a clear mockery of the rating agency. It is at very best 2 stars - below are the facts of our stay.

My wife, 8month old son and I stayed at this place from Dec 22 to 29 2012.
The layout of the building is in two separate sections - rooms on one side and facilities (restaurant, ski lockers etc.,) on the other. There are two separate stair wells and lifts meaning you need to go to the top of the bedroom wing before walking across to the Facilities wing to descend to the facilities, or you can walk across from the 6th floor and ascend unless you have a pram with baby etc,. There are two lifts for each wing, one lift on the bedroom wing was out of order for all but the last day of our stay, the second lift on the bedroom wing also failed on day 4 and 6 (but was fixed same day). Very strangely, the lifts only have an Up button (?!), so to descend to a different floor from any floor other than the top (10th) floor you must go up first to come back down (?!). Lifts are small on only fit 6 ppl in. There are 11 floors in the bedroom wing, over which I think 8 or so have 13 rooms each - so estimate about 250 people capacity or so. The Restaurant is an informal cafeteria with a buffet, the dinner and breakfast time slots are only 1.5 hours and there is a rush for seating and food at the beginning of each time slot (comic at first, annoying thereafter). Lunch is longer and less rushed. The cafeteria is noisy and hectic, queues for food, if you are late it is possible some dishes will be finished or put away. Buffet was sometimes a bit messed up by younguns trying to dish out their own food. Many families with toddlers and some infants habit this place and the vast majority of clientèle are young French families (we were quite possibly the only English speakers this week - we never heard another English conversation all week). Whilst fresh and clean, the food is plain and generally unimaginative - breakfast invariably ham, cheese, croissants, canned fruit salad. There is no bar in the restaurant, but palatable house wine is included and on tap, there is no coffee available during dinner or lunch, tea bags and hot water are though (look under the beverage shelf). Staff are young, positive and helpful as they can be, however they are inexperienced and also lost my paperwork and simply could not find this (despite taking 4 days). Staff do not wear uniforms and are dressed casually - they wear a badge though. There is a bar on the 10th floor opening at 4pm ish till late (I think) - normal prices. We stayed in room 006 on the bottom floor (lucky considering the lift situation, it was always full of course and we had our monthly old son with us), This room is small, bed only (no chairs but two stools of no real use), no place to leave suitcases except a small alcove about the door, whilst reasonably clean it is old, slightly worn out and cold, there is an electric heater that would not work properly (either full on or completely off, no in between), the external window/door vents broken, no bath, only shower with white plastic worn out head. There is only one bed change/room clean each week on Tuesdays - including rubbish change. Whilst two bins are located for your rubbish next to the lifts on each floor, no bin bags are provided. Some graffiti scratched into the woodwork on the ground floor does not leave a good impression, nor do bins next to the lifts. No spare pillow, blankets, kettle or hair dryers in the room and none available when asked from reception. No computers or printing facility, only wifi for your own laptop etc, on the top floor. We required a cot bed and were given a collapsible travel cot with a pitiful excuse for a mattress (which collapses also?!) that was broken - we exchanged only to find there were all generally of the same condition so had to fashion something more suitable for our son to sleep on. Our floor was generally quiet but at night the toilet noises form the adjacent rooms is clearly audible as are loudly crying babies/children/unhappy wives or husbands etc,. TV in room has French channels only. Childcare is professionally laid out and well staffed with warm and caring carers and our young 8month old was very happy there for the week whist we were skiing. Location is good and very central to Les Arc 1800 shops etc,. it has its own ski lift virtually, and ski in/out is possible. Ski lockers are adequate but no boot drying available. According to our travel company Nielson, ski hire and lift passes were Not included in this deal but on arrival we discovered they were - careful with the lift pass though as this is not a full 5 day Paradiski pass and you will need to upgrade at a cost of about 64Euros per pass. Overall I would not stay here again and cannot recommend any aspect of this place except for its location and the on-site childcare. Nielson would do well to to remove this from their options list as unless you pay rock bottom prices, there is no possible way they can successfully manage your expectations. Photos will be posted pending a response from Neilson and the Club du Solei.

The hotel publishes ski-in-ski-out access to slopes but this is not really true - there's a tricky (and somewhat dangerous for beginners) ski-out access to a chair lift - and there is no real ski-in access at all (partially off-piste, partially skis-off). This fact also prevented us from getting back for lunch at the hotel.

But this is the only real drawback of this place.
- The entire Paradiski area offers lots of pistes and lifts, excellent for all levels of skiers.
- The breakfast is standard but we never left hungry to slopes
- 5 out of 7 dinners were excellent (the other two were not that good but still reasonable)
- Nice spa facility, although you have to book in advance since the capacity is limited and working hours are short (last admission 6pm). Remember to bring your swimming suit - shorts are not allowed!
- Ski rental service and lockers are in-house, very convenient
- Rooms are basic - but when you come for ski, you hardly need anything else.
- Nice lobby with a fireplace and a bar. Evening animation is totally in French though
- Cleaning service in rooms is once per stay (mid-week) - one might see this as yet another drawback, we didn't...
- Last but not the least - very friendly and helpful staff. We had couple of "non standard" requests, all were answered and treated nicely and efficiently.

We spent a week skiing at Club du Soleil with 3 teenage children and had a very nice trip. The hotel is clean and ok but the rooms are basic - nothing fancy - and there are some annoying quirks to the hotel - no shampoo in the rooms, reception desk closed for part of the afternoon, two sets of elevators you go up and down a lot. We were disappointed that children under 16 were not allowed in the spa/jacuzzi area at all and disappointed that the hotel is not necessarily ski in/ski out; it depends on how much snow there is. The skiing itself, however, was great. There were a lot of slopes of different levels, no real lines at the lifts, the instructors from ESI were generally very good and the ski equipment you get from the hotel was good and the whole process well organized. So it is a good place to go as a base for skiing (or maybe summer outdoor activities) but if I were looking for a pampering hotel to go to for relaxation, I would look for another place.

the Hotel Les Villages Clubs du Soleil Arc 1800 is sitated close to the slopes of Arc 1800. Ski rental was free (included in the hotel rate), however, if you want to have good skies, better rent them! Food was excellent, wine with the food was free.

I think I paid too much for this stay at the club. The only positive point was the cycling and hiking leaders. For the rest, it was a disaster. Hygiene in the dining room must be forgotten; I contracted very severe gastro and became very ill. The plates and cups were very dirty, and there was a distinct lack of spoons and forks. The rooms are dilapidated and have not been renovated for a long time. The toilet and shower room were in a terrible and miserable state. It gave the impression of a bankrupt establishment.

The rooms are dated and poorly arranged. It looks like a hospital. The departure is on a small, steep and undamaged winding road. The return is done by walking on a road then on a metal staircase which is not easy with skis and shoes.
The choice, variety and quality in the restaurant are poor. The coffee is terrible at breakfast. The toaster doesn't work, the jam is bad and the chemical orange judge too sweet and sour.
