What a delight! Astounding value with exquisite food preparation in the Japanese-style, this hotel exceeded our family's hopes. (There are no food options outside of the hotel close by and so it is important to eat in, breakfast and dinner). There are men's and women's onsens, indoors and outdoors, as well as private couple's onsens. The rooms are in enormous...

This was my first time staying here at Hotel Shirakabaso but it most definitely won't be my last. My wife and I fell in love with everything about the hotel and the staff. We always felt the staff were going a little bit beyond what would've been expected and they were happy to speak english or allow us to practise...

Located next to the Maruike ski lift in Shiga Kogen, the Shirakabaso is a fantastic place to start and end a busy day on the slopes. While we have tried skiing at many other locations in Japan over the years, we have returned 8 times to Shirakabaso, and always look forward to a new stay at this hotel. Over that...

As many had said, u can literally skii off the hotel. The bus termninal is also just nearby the hotel so travelling from downtown Nagano city was a breeze. The japanese style room was huge and comfortable and comes with attached bathroom. Very important factor. The biggest letdown however is the food. Its one of the lowest grade of Kaiseiki...

Perfect location in Hasuike, you can literally ski ON and OFF from the front of the hotel. As well you have a main bus station right next to it, with even bus from and to Nagano. The staff was great, very helpful and friendly. On our last day the weather was very bad but we still tried to go skiing,...

This is the second time that my husband and I have skied Shiga Kogen. The first time we stayed in a (perfectly fine) hotel where they served Japanese/Western food on alternating nights. The food was great, but we wanted a more authentic Japanese experience this time. I mean, when you're in Japan, you want to eat Japanese food, not Beef...

We're an Australian couple in our late 20s and this was our first time skiing in Shigakogen. We've travelled a lot in the last decade and this would definitely be on our list of memorable stays; it's well located, feels warm and authentic and runs like a well oiled machine. Why we chose Shigakogen? Its the largest combined ski area...

Unlike some of the reviews we read on the interwebs (powder hounds etc), this place unfortunately isn't a TRUE ski-in/ski-out resort; it's a brief 3 minute stroll to the nearest mountain entry point. That being said, it was the only thing we were disappointed with for our stay. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful (their English wasn't great, but...

We have been coming back for the last 4 years. Everytime for a week and always in December. Always receive excellent service from all the staff. Staff are very knowledgable on touring and ski information. Onsen is immaculately cleaned and there is an outdoor onsen as well as 2 private onsens(free to use). Tabletennis room(and equipment) free to use. Massage...

Very good location for a short stay. Just on top of the slope from the hot spring monkey park. Provide ski rental, also right next to the shuttle bus to all ski slopes. Meal and hot spring is very nice. There is toilet inside the room but no shower.
