It’s taken us a dozen visits to Japan to finally visit Shiga Kogen. It had to be done. I think we were turned off by the hype around the lack of “soul”, etc. I just wish we came here years ago. A large part of that view comes from the Hotel Khuls. Fantastic, ski in/ski out location, large rooms, great...

The location of the hotel is terrific. It is ski in - ski out and 50-100 metres (gentle ski downhill) to the Family ski area ticket office. We stayed 5 nights. We had requested a Level 5 room in advance and were given one for the last two nights. It was a bit inconvenient to move mid-stay but the Level...

Remembering the trip to Shiga Kogen as one of our best ski trips ever. We were very pleased with our stay at Kuhls for a list of reasons: 1) great location. The hotel is located on one of the bigger pistes, but also excellent for connecting to other parts of the resort, like Terakoya or Yakebitayama. The ski pass sell...

Very good location, the rooms are traditional Japanese style but a bit tired. The hotel mainly caters for large groups but accommodates singles or couples just as well. We stayed for 7 days and experienced the full weekly turn around. The food is a mixture of traditional and western food, all of acceptable quality and quantity. The only remarkable thing...

We stayed 6 nights at Hotel Khuls. It's a great, central location and is a perfect ski-in/ski-out hotel. The "half board" includes breakfast and dinner with plenty of options and and some nights there's a delicious Japanese hot pot. The hotel has ski hire included - my only criticism is that the equipment is a little on the basic /...

We are currently staying at this gorgeous traditional Japanese style hotel. Today we had to travel to the hospital following a skiing accident and the wonderful owner, Yamamoto San, of the hotel drove us to and from the hospital and also acted as our translator. Truly over and above the service we'd expect - but very much appreciated, especially as...

Thoroughly enjoyed this hotel. M. Sakai on the desk was superbly capable, with excellent English and always thinking ahead about what we would need or want. Ski in and out was a joy. Onsen was clean and the open air one particularly good - having a soak whilst watching the nearby night skiing was a novel experience. Food was excellent...

Our group of 12 people stayed here for 5 nights. We did have a pleasant stay in Hotel Khuls which provided great hospitality. Breakfast and dinner served in buffet way with both western and Japanese food. This is a real ski in and out hotel, right on the slope of the center of ShigaKogen. Thank you Yamamoto San and hotel front...

We stayed at Khuls for nine nights. We booked for six nights but the skiing conditions and hospitality was so good we stayed longer. The meals were excellent. Both Japanese and Western food. The location was perfect as we only had to ski out the door and down to the lifts. We had such a great time and are already...

We've been heading up to Khuls most years since 2007. Safe to say that we love the place. Real ski in , ski out with and an entire floor dedicated to warm locker rooms, ski tech and hire desk. Ichinose is centrally located so over a four day stay you can ski most of the Shiga Kogen terrain as well...
