I can't say enough good things about the Hotel & Resort Kiyomizu Bozanso! I've never had better service, and I've stayed at a lot of hotels around the world. And it is a perfect place to stay for families. Our primary reason for staying there was its proximity to the Snow Monkey Park, but it turned out to offer so much more. The kids were always entertained with ping pong, foosball, a TV with a large movie selection, and plenty of lounge space. The rooms were very cozy, clean, and spacious. The kids and the adults alike loved the futons, and the bathrooms were well kept too. We were surprised there was an onsen on the main floor, which was very relaxing. But now to the service: The morning we woke up we were surrounded by snow. Unfortunately, the snow chains I had weren't adequate without a jack for the tires. An employee tried for a long time to help me put on the chains, and then drove to get a jack. He somehow managed to get them on after I had quite a struggle. We wouldn't have gotten home without him as it snowed all day. The front desk attendant offered to drive me to the local convenience store to get food for my family as well. I can't believe how willing they were to help my young family as we were far away from home. The staff made their hotel feel like home, and I will always be grateful to them for the that. The fact that my family were able to stay entertained through this long, discouraging ordeal says volumes about how wonderful both the facilities and the service were. THANK YOU!!!

Hotel staff picked us up from the train station, a very convenient service. Free kitchen for use, spotlessly clean with most utensils you would need. Self service laundry also available. There was a nice restaurant cum lounge area for guests to mingle, with games, tv and free coffee!! A Small Onsen was nice and quiet. Rooms were Ryokan style, very clean, very comfortable. Absolutely nothing bad to say about it. Breakfast was a simple set meal as well. Everything was lovely. Hotel Kiyomizu Bozansou was an amazing and memorable stay for me particularly due to a combination of their exceptional staff service (very helpful and friendly people!) coupled with the coziness and spaciousness of the entire place. Very personalised service as well since there weren’t many people around. Would 10000% stay again.

I recently stayed at this hotel with my husband and I must say that I was greatly impressed by the service. Looking from the past reviews, I think it must have been improved a lots. What I like: - Spacious traditional japanese room. It has tatami! - Love how they provided yukata. - The food was insanely cheap! Pasta for 600 yen? Sold. - We are muslims so I was really happy when the master recommended menu safe for us. - We arrived at the hotel earlier than check in time bc we were freezing cold after coming down from snow monkey... And they allowed early check in. What an extra service, lovely. - The master went extra mile to drive us back to station. Lovely. I must say the only thing that made me disappointed a little was bc the hot water did not work in my room.. thankfully it worked in onsen, but I had to pay 150 yen for 1x admission to the onsen. The duration between the hotel and station is about 10-15 mins.. so be mindful of how many items and luggages you want to carry. However if you inform the master about your arrival time, you might be able to have him pick you up (depends on availability).

Booked a quadruple room on hotels.com for $300/nt. Expensive, but breakfast was included and it was high season and reviews indicated that shuttle to train and snow monkey park was included. Upon arrival, front desk demanded over $100 more because their reservation only showed 2 people, even though I showed my receipt for 4 people. We had no choice, so I paid it. Room was very cold and heater shut off in the middle of the night. Futon and blankets were very thin and threadbare. Restaurant food was all microwave food - pizza, ramen, frozen French fries, etc. All terrible. Breakfast was good, but small and overpriced. Worst part was NO SHUTTLE! And the location is far from train station and restaurants. Over $400(US) for 1 night to sleep on the floor in a cold room. TOTAL RIP OFF!

For our second trip to Japan we selected our hotels carefully. As we wanted to see snow monkeys, we started to seek a place near them. Bozanso seemed to be a match. The owner met us at Yudanaka station late evening as agreed before. We were given a large room japanese ryokan style, it means sleeping on tatami mats. Next morning he drove us to trailhead towards snow monkey park. Later we used local bus and walked last several hundred meters to Bozanso. In daytime it seemed a little forgotten and unhappy. We were almost alone in this hotel. It seems abandoned by japanese people, maybe old tradition to relax at natural hot spring has gone. Temperature of water was 40 degrees. Meals were nothing special, ordinary japanese food. Overall: A little bit overpriced, it's best times seemed to be over. Only ruins of it's glory. But western people, if you want to try real japanese style, try it.

The service was a 6 stars. Hedai went out of his way to ensure that we were happy. He picked us up from the station, dropped our luggage at the ryokan and dropped us at the entrance to the Snow monkey park. He also dropped us back at the station. The room we received was a great traditional ryokan room. The onsen was really nice. It was about as hot as I could enjoy and I like a very hot bath. That being said it was too hot for my daughter to come in. Because it was off season and it was just me and my daughter there at the time, Hedai allowed me to take my daughter in which was a bonus as I would probably not have had the chance to experience one otherwise. On the flipside, the hotel itself needed some renovation. Also, as there were not anyone else there the lights in the main area were left off, I expect to conserve electricity giving the main area a gloomy feel. However, overall this is a great place to stay at a great price in the off season.

I made 2 separate bookings for 3 rooms each in Bozanso, Yamanounchi Japan for a group of 7 adults & 4 children about two months ago at the HOTEL.COM website for the following dates:- 1) 8 Dec 2018 (check in) to 9 Dec 2018 (check out); and 2) 9 Dec 2018 (check in) to 10 Dec 2018 (check out) Children above 2 or 3 years are also considered adult under the Japanese context and so there is no concession for children aged more than 2yrs or 3yrs . On the 23 April 2018 (Sunday), Hotel.com sent an email to me informing me that the hotelier wanted to cancel my booking made for 8 December 2018 assigning the reason that "THEY ARE UNABLE TO HONOR MY RESERVATION" for the cancellation. Unfortunately I missed to read the aforesaid mail. On 24 April 2018, I received an email to confirm that my cancellation of the rooms at Bozanso on the 8 December was confirmed. I WAS SHOCKED and after clarifying with HOTEL.COM, the request to cancel was made by the HOTELIER, BOZANSO stating that the hotelier was UNABLE TO HONOR MY RESERVATION. Goodness, TWO MONTHS after placing my reservation which was confirmed accepted by HOTEL.COM. However, my other reservation for 3 rooms on 9 December 2018 (Check in) was left intact by the hotelier. Luckily, the dates for the intended stay are still about 8 months away and I still have time to source for other hotels around the vicinity but the prices would be much higher as compared to two months ago. HOW CAN THE HOTELIER BE SO UNETHICAL, THEY SHOULD BE EXCLUDED IN ALL THE HOTEL RESERVATION WEBSITES. BEWARE if you place your reservation for rooms in BOZANSO, YAMANOUNCHI JAPAN. This is my advice to ALL TRAVELLERS. Frederick Teo

This place is the best! Heday had us laughing the whole time, such an awesome guy, picked us up from station after long days of boarding with no notice, was just there waving us down at the bus station and proceeded to do so for the next 3 days only to stop in at Lawson’s for beers and food on the way home. great Onsen, big clean rooms, close to town, fields and monkey park but the main highlight was Heday. Mucho Gracias Heday you legend.

It was a great stay with onsen at Yudanaka. Heday-san was kind to pick us up from the train station & on the way to the hotel, he explained the various restaurants that are available for our dinner options. Upon reaching the hotel, he also offered to bring us to Snow Monkey park (the highlight of our trip!) & fix the time with us. Overall, a great stay on a quiet environment, onsen to ourselves & great stopover for Snow Monkey! However, on a note, the heater used in the room is oil-based so for those who are sensitive to the oil smell, this may not be for you. Also, wifi is only available in the living area.

In August 2017, I drove to the hotel from Nagano City using the GPS in the car. Not difficult to locate and welcomed by the boss and his dog. He gave many suggestions for my activities during the four days' trip. Really a friendly gentleman who gave a hand for the GPS setting and advised us to go the American Drug store nearby for my son's accidental treatment (pinky hurt by car door) after office hour of hospital and clinic. Japanese breakfast with 12 dishes - a surprise to us, though we used to have western style. Also many thanks to the almighty superintendent who do the cooking, cleaning, room setting...etc. and very polite. Our experience in this traditional Japanese style hotel was memorable. Of course, visitors should not expect too much with this price.
