I went with my partner, we rented a room with a view of the pool, somewhat hard mattresses but good for our taste. The new and impeccable bathroom. Very quiet place. Breakfast has just enough for our needs. All very rich. Fruits, fruit salad, yogurt, cereals, orange juice, bread, ham, cheese, butter, jams, biscuits, some simple cakes and pastries. It has large interior and exterior spaces. A beautiful terrace in front of the hotel, overlooking the Río Negro rambla, with comfortable armchairs and small tables and chairs. There are bicycles available to ride around the city. The hotel staff is very nice.

- good location of the accommodation
- Pool in the courtyard but there are few sun loungers by or around the pool
- The air conditioner is not optimally placed. It blows on the headboard of the bed (room 11)
- no restaurants within walking distance in the area

Stayed here for 2 nights in November 2013.

This is our second stay at the Mercedes Rambla, after having visited Uruguay two years previously.

We had an upstairs double room facing the rambla. $115 per night which included a good buffet breakfast.

Our room was spacious and fresh smelling. There was a flat screen tv, air con, desk and chair. Also 2 lounge chairs (but they were not tall enough to be able to sit on and enjoy the view of the Rambla).

The free wifi did not operate very well from this room, so most of the time I chose to use the free computer on the ground floor when I needed to.

This hotel is situated mid-rambla and you can just stroll across to start your walk and also to visit the food vendors to have a snack in the evening. It is also within walking distance of the main twon square and shops.

There is some onsite, secure parking although it is a bit tight.

Staff were friendly and I did not have any problem communicating to them in my basic beginner Spanish. I would stay here again.

We stayed at the Rambla Hotel - Mercedes, Uruguay, for one night in May 2011 as part of a 2 week trip in Uruguay.
No problems booking from Australia through email. We booked a superior room that was facing the Rambla. The room was upstairs (no lifts). Spacious room and bathroom with air con, small tv, bar fridge, small table with chairs.

Near the foyer there is a free internet computer.

The receptionist did not speak English but we managed to get by with our minimal Spanish.

Breakfast was included in the price and was a buffet, which was not bad.

No onsite parking and insufficient room for everyone to park in front of hotel on this busy thoroughfare. It rained the whole time we were there, so maybe there was less traffic than normal. It would have been nice to stroll across the road to the river, but it was just too wet. Our stay here was okay, but I would probably see what else was available next time.

We found this hotel by walking the streets of Mercedes. You could fire a cannon down the main street of most of these rural towns during the day and not hit anyone. It was hard to notice anything resembling a hotel or restaurant as it was so dead even on this Saturday afternoon. We were almost ready to drive to another town when we spotted this hotel.

Good location overlooking the rambla. We stayed here in December just before the tourist season kicks off. The staff don't speak much English but they were very helpful (especially the people on the desk who helped us with travel information around Uy) and quite willing to struggle with our limited Spanish.

The room was of a decent size, our double was two twin beds but that was OK. There was a fridge, WiFi access and two sets of large double doors opened onto a communal balcony but we were the only ones using it for the most part. These same doors have metal shutters which go a long way towards blocking noise and light at night. As mentioned, this was a Saturday night and the town past-time seemed to be cruising in cars up and down the streets near the river. We used ear plugs which also helped.

The room was clean but needed some maintenance, in particular the door to the bathroom didn't close properly and the doors to the balcony did not not completely shut but the room could be secured using the external shutters. The bathroom had been upgraded like most in Uruguayan hotels it seemed but the furnishings were dated.

Although we didn't know it at the time, this was one of the best breakfast buffets of all the hotels we stayed at in Uruguay. Adequate supply and variety of food. Great coffee. There were some very loud guests shouting between tables to each other in the dining room which rather spoiled it but this is a result of poor breeding rather any fault of the hotel.

Overall, I am pleased to recommend this hotel which cost us US$85 for the night.

Karina at the front desk was very kind. The first room we had in the back had a bad odor in the bathroom but when the staff could not fix the problem, Karina moved us to a better room (at no extra cost) with beautiful views of the Rio Negro from our comfortable room. Simple but adequate breakfast.

This it´s a good located Hotel at the river side of the Rio Negro. The hotel has a private parking, but it isn´t enough for all the travelers, so you have to arrive early. The price is a litlebit expensive for uruguayan people and more for foreigners. 80 usd, a room for two. The breakfast it´s good, variety, some fruits, bread, mermelade, juices, self service without limit. The rooms are fine, with a small firgobar and flat tv cable. Free wiffi is avaiable in all the hotel. The staff isfriendly. All the instalations are in good conditions. In brief, it is a good option to stay if you aren´t looking a chep place.
