Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I can highly recommend this lodge and its staff. They are very service minded and possess great knowledge of the wild. Their guided jeep tours in the park run smoothly and take you to where there is the best chance of seeing the big wild animals

Staying 4 nights at Maqueda Lodge was the best decision of our whole trip! It was such a nice experience. The staff is super friendly, the rooms are very pretty and the location is amazing - welcome to the Bush! Also we really liked the food and enjoyed 2 amazing day trip Safaris with the ranger James. Although the weather wasn't quite on our side, we saw so many beautiful animals and learned so much. Thank you Maqueda Team for making our stay unforgettable! All the Best, Christina & Oskar

The four of us, my husband and parents, were so lucky - we were the only guests at Maqueda Lodge for three days. So we got to enjoy all the attention of Michael and James and their fantastic cooking. The whole lodge is beautifully designed, especially the covered sitting and dining area, but the big difference from other beautiful accommodation was the people. On top, James and Michael provided us with all kinds of information, e.g. about the little five of Africa, and fetched a rhinoceros beetle from the garden as concrete visual material. Thank you and stay well!

Wonderful experience of the African bush, warm and welcoming luxury. James and his team were excellent company, very knowledgeable and nothing was too much trouble, we felt very much at home. Early morning games drives and bush walks were memorable. Looking forward to a return trip.

My friend and I loved Maqueda and the staff. We were made very welcome; the staff where great and very engaging, warm and friendly. I would recommend this place to anyone and would definitely be back at some point in the near future. I gave a slight lower grade for sleep only because it was hot and humid and hard to sleep when the power was load shedding and we couldn't have fan on.

Many thanks for your positive review - we are delighted that despite the load shedding you recognised that there were many other things that would bring you to return and stay with us in the future. The load shedding is very frustrating for all of us - we appreciate your honest feedback! Many thanks again on behalf of the Maqueda Team David

We stayed for four nights, and really enjoyed the excellent hospitality, friedship and fantastic quality food. The lodge is located in Marloth park, which is around 30 minutes from Kruger's Crocodile River entrance. One can stay here without car, since daytrips into the Kruger can be arranged though the lodge in open landrovers. Pickup from Nelspruit may also be arranged through the lodge (75 minutes or so). In Marloth Park it is possible to walk to the river to see hippos and crocodiles. Francois and Etienne are the best examples I have seen of dedicated hosts. One feels at home from day one. Strongly recommended.

Stayed at this lodge as part of a Webjet tour of Africa and can't speak highly enough of the staff and facilities. David our host made us feel welcome as soon as we arrived and the service ambience and food were fantastic. The 2 game drives we went on did not disappoint and we saw the big 5 plus a lot more. Well done David and staff. Would go back again.
