Stayed on a weekend break with friends. Had the lunch menu and all enjoyed our tasty food. Our evening meal was excellent and overnight accommodation clean and comfortable. We found the staff efficient and helpful.

Wonderful Afternoon Tea treat, in our own little room reserved for 3, which was a nice surprise. Lovely staff, lovely place and excellent value for money, can highly recommend. A member of staff even wrapped the cakes we couldn't eat to take away as there were so many!

Stayed here recently for family get together, very pleased. Rooms were good standard and very comfortable (though some do need updating but this is being addressed), food was excellent - served large group of us as one (no waiting for everyone to get their meals as sometimes happens elsewhere). Staff were very good and any niggles were quickly addressed and... More

Absolutely raging after waiting a hour mid week for our food order do date burger and fish and chips...this was followed by the establishment trying to charge us for the food...we advised we didn't revive the food and were then told the order had been lost in the kitchen!! We had 2 drinks and even after waiting for this ridiculous... More

I've been 3 times now for a meal to the white lion and each time it just keeps getting better! The staff are very friendly, and service in the restaurant is excellent. The menu has something for everyone on and there is so much I'd like to try on there that I just have to keep going back, even my... More

You can't go wrong at The White Lion. Impressive, historic building with character, the contemporary decor is merged perfectly with the oak beams and original features. We had a superb meal in the cosy pub restaurant with log burner, (as opposed to the restaurant proper at the other side of the bar area) from the truly talented chef. There were... More

My current favourite place to eat, lovely surroundings, comfortable, friendly staff, beautiful menu, excellent food, the starters are fabulous, and a few of the main courses offer small portions which leave room for a lovely dessert,

Returned here for lunch with my son. Much preferred how it used to be. Sharing platters were not worth the money. The sunday roast was not really up to scratch it was quite dry and the gravy, what there was, had a strange taste to it. The menus, set out in a ring bound book, looked as if they were... More

We had booked for one night as a stop-over travelling north. Because of a delay en route we arrived very late, but the cheery and helpful staff wiped out the bad experience. The room was not big, and neither was the bathroom, but both were very clean and perfectly good for one night. The room was a bit cold on... More
