Stayed in Cava Lodge for 4 nights over Christmas 2014. Although it was cold outside, it was wonderfully warm inside, thanks to outstanding underfloor heating. Great WiFi and a very Scandinavian-type of arrangement within the lodge itself. Clean, uncluttered, minimalist and yet at the same time warm and inviting. That is an incredible balance to achieve. When a place is...

Top quality self catering accommodation - clean, warm, cosy, comfortable - an all round five star experience! Situated roughly midway between Kirkwall and Stromness ideally located to explore the main island. Also only five minutes from the ferry terminal for trips over to Hoy. Great views over Scapa Flow and the islands. We received a very warm welcome from owner...

We stayed in Cava lodge this August and it was a fantastic base to explore the Orkneys. The lodge was lovely and cosy (thanks to the underfloor heating), immaculately clean and felt like staying in a hotel! As for the view, we didn't even bother switching the TV on all week. The roads on Mainland are well maintained and straight...

We have stayed in both Cava and Rysa Lodges and they are excellent places to stay. This year was our fifth year staying in these lodges and we are always very impressed with everything. We love the Orkneys and Margaret makes us so welcome. This year our visit to Orkney was made even more special when two of our daughters...

We stayed in Rysa Lodge for a week. It was absolutely excellent, modern, well-equipped, and with fabulous views across Scapa Flow. Very handy for exploring mainland Orkney, also for the ferry to Hoy. A longer drive (nowhere on mainland Orkney is far) to Tingwall got us onto the ferry to Rousay, which has even more archeological sites than mainland. There...

We stayed in the Cava Lodge for one week and we thought it was great, the view looking out on Scapa Bay was just the best. The lodge was very modern and clean and Margaret the owner made us very welcome. The underfloor heating was a real bonus as the weather was a wee bit chilly at times. All in...

Modern well appointed accommodation in a tranquil but convenient location for exploring Orkney. Easy access to all ferry terminals to explore the outer islands. The owner gave us a very warm welcome and was on hand to answer any queries. Highly recommended.
