Detailed Reviews
Wow what an amazing park. The location is well placed for visiting the sites along The Great Ocean Road. The caravan park itself is tucked back off the main road, set in a beautiful valley surrounded by woodland, with the Wye River winding its way through the grounds. Just across the road is a beautiful safe beach with plenty of room, and lots to interest visitors from exploring the rock pools, walking along the shore to the historical jetty, relaxing on the beach or catching the surf. Near the entrance to the caravan park is a general store and a great coffee shop, and the local pub is just a short walk up the hill. The caravan park is immaculate. The grounds are well cared for and attract an abundance of wildlife. During our stay we saw at close hand kangaroos, echidnas, koalas, ducks, goats, kookaburras, and an array of beautiful birds. There is a track which goes through the woods around the perimeter of the park which is great for walking or cycling. There are also lots of local walking tracks to explore. Upon arrival you are greeted in reception with smiling, helpful, knowledgeable staff. Claire checked us in and made us feel very welcome with her relaxed, friendly manner, and made sure we had everything we needed for our stay. The facilities are immaculate and spacious. The amenities are cleaned regularly and to a very high standard. The camp kitchen has everything you need, and plenty of space. The children have a fantastic play area with climbing apparatus and a large jumping pillow. There are also go carts to hire! We were treated to an outdoor movie night which was magical, sat under the stars with such a great crowd of people. And we also enjoyed a music evening along with small foodie stalls, a pop up bar and the manager Carl on his ice cream cart providing ices and sweet goodies for the children (and adults!). The staff give 110% to ensure their guests are looked after. Nothing is too much trouble and you are guaranteed service with a smile. We have travelled much of Australia and stayed in many caravan parks and this one outshines them all. Well done Big 4 Wye River. Our stay was truly magical.

We stayed for two nights in December as a quick family get away, and loved this caravan park! Clean amenities, great playground for kids, and the best concrete slabs for caravans.
We have become accustomed to having an en-suite site over the past 2 years when camping/glamping, but we didn’t miss it this trip, the toilet/shower blocks throughout the park didn’t feel dirty and cramped like some places can.
The park was busy, but not full, when we visit and staff did an amazing job spreading everyone out so you had some space!
There is so much wild life around this park, we seen Koalas, kangaroos, ducks, goats and lots of beautiful birds, right outside our caravan door!

This was our second year back with a large group of 8 couples plus children and it’s now become our annual trip as every year it just gets better and better. The cabins and facilities are clean and meet all of your needs but it’s the staff (in particular Claire and Carl) who manage the park who remember you by name, take any comments on board and better themselves at the park every year. The only negative is that everyone feels that same as us so we can’t extend our stay 😂. Can’t wait to come back next year!

So here we are just off a dusty dirt road surrounded by duck poo. NO, we're not on a duck farm, we're at the Wye River Big 4 caravan park. It's easy to sit back and count the money folks, BUT, that's going to be short lived when you have such scant regard for your customers. Who was the extremely inconsiderate person who whipped around on a rider mower on Thursday morning and sprayed dust and dirt all over people's cars, caravans and personal possessions? Give him some lessons on Customer Service on a pair of scissors to cut the grass. There's lots of grass that's been destroyed apparently by people using something on the ground other than the proper matting which breathes. I saw no evidence of any restoration process, ie. no sections roped off and definitely no watering anywhere. Despite their fairly new appearance, the amenities block needs maintenance. In the men's section on the unsealed road area, only one hand dryer works and there are several broken hooks in the shower enclosures. One shower I was unlucky enough to step into had the shower rose broken and it was like being under a fire hose. Why when people arrive on Sunday afternoon as we did, don't you ask them to choose a vacant site themselves as the park was more than half empty. There were sites much nicer than ours which were vacant until the day we left.
Seal all the roads, wash your garbage bins occasionally, grow more grass and step up the maintenance as a priority. Your customers will thank you and give you great reviews. On the positive side, the whole park is surrounded by tall trees and it's a lovely setting. It's very family friendly and there is a large area for kids to play in. Also, the beach is only a five minute walk from the end sections of the park.
Some extent of duck "relocation" is required because they appear to have been fed and so they come to your site in great numbers, pooing everywhere as they look for food.

The cabin we stayed in Wye River was incredibly overpriced. Roof in main bedroom leaked A LOT, whole cabin was tiny, smoke detector kept going off for no reason, stove top wasn't working properly and we were worried to use it. The setting is beautiful, a shame the accommodation doesn't match. Some cabins have been upgraded and the quality difference isn't reflected in the price. Our friends stayed in a huge, newly renovated 3 bedroom and only played a few hundred dollars more than us in a tiny, old 2 bedroom. Won't be going back.

Positives: Wye River is a lovely location. Facilities were acceptable. River-side location would have been lovely and would probably recommend. Local general store is very helpful (albeit expensive)
Negatives: While I knew that I was booking an overflow site (number 62) in between cabins I/we felt disappointed at the site at (I suspect) full price. It was: very hemmed in by other - generally poorly maintained - cabins; the grass was in very bad condition; we literally had trash from the cabin behind (discarded chairs, discarded outside shower, etc); the access track is gravel. It was just a disappointing environment. While the staff tried to be helpful I/we were disappointed by the lack of local knowledge.

Booked a cabin for a quick family getaway. We got very lucky with great weather for June and had a great time. The park was clean and tidy, the cabin was very well fitted out. The staff were friendly and very accommodating. The location is perfect for peace and quiet, but also very close to either Lorne or Apollo Bay for some tourist attractions. Plenty of local bushwalks and sightseeing available. The pedal cars and air trampoline keep the kids entertained, giving the parents a well earned break. Would highly recommended for families.

On booking we were told that there was only one site available. This was a big lie. We had vacant sites near us and we spoke to a fellow customer who too had been persuaded to pay well over the odds using the same ruse. Again we were led on a fool’s mission when we asked for the advertised WiFi. We were given the code and when it didn’t work were led to believe that they would fix it. Another big lie. We spoke to a longer term resident - WiFi never works. We were fools - we paid three times the going rate - extortionate even in the height of the season.

3 Bedroom cabin is very modern and well laid out, we really enjoyed our stay in this accommodation. Our friends however stayed in a 2 bedroom cabin which is very tight and old. Park is perfectly located with lots of space for the kids to run, ride and play.

We spent two nights in a cabin celebrating my sons 30th birthday which was held at the pub.
Other family members and friends were in vans and tents and some stayed longer.
We all were thoroughly impressed with the friendly and helpful staff and the pristine presentation of the park.
Highly recommend, it was so nice seeing kids having so much fun and interacting with native birds...

Hi there,
Yes every cabin in the park has its own self contained toilet and bathroom.
Thank-you, -Andy
wi-fi was working fine when we were there late November. It was fairly slow as are most of them.
As far as I know there was no requirement to capture grey water on any sites, they either had a sullage point or drained on to the ground.
Hi Sally,
I'm very sorry but we are not a pet friendly park.
Cheers,
Andy Hannemann
