Reviewed 10 November 2015

Great service (we told them we would take a long distance bus and walk the rest of the way, the lady of the house came to pick us up), wonderful 10 course dinner served in the room, also lots of small dishes for Japanese breakfast served in the big room downstairs , private onsen (4 bath houses can be locked from inside for private use, we thought it would be crowded, knowing they have 9 rooms altogether but we never had to wait for our turn to bath, even in the morning), quiet location (they are off the main road), seperate room for sleeping which is nice if one wants to watch TV and the other wants to sleep, local bus stop only a few minutes walking distance, Yamanaka-ko is a very quiet lake village, unlike Kawaguchi-ko to the north, autumn foliage was nice and they had a festival in the park by the lake, we highly recommend it, though I am not sure if they speak English but their smiles make up for the loss of the language More
