Spent seven nights at Carpe Diem for my wife’s 60th birthday and overall it was a memorable stay. Upon arrival we were greeted with a glass of local wine and Canape while we checked in. The room (Alba suite) was well appointed with nice furnishings and comfortable bed, outside the large balcony had high quality seating and sun loungers and the plunge pool was clean and inviting although quite cold. Only criticism of the room was no USB sockets or smart phone dock and no portable blue tooth speaker, so if you want some music on the balcony or round plunge pool remember to pack one. The property itself is beautiful, great views where you get sunrise and sunset with the North facing aspect, drawback to this is the incessant prevailing wind. Breakfast is of a high standard although if you stick to the inclusive options it does become repetitive and the A le carte options seem oddly expensive seeing they use essentially same ingredients. There is an out of place (temporary I would hope) structure to take breakfast in which just about does the trick to shelter you from the wind, but worryingly flexes and shifts as the wind gusts. Pygros and the rest of island is amazing, some of the best views we have experienced on all of our travels Fira and Oia are spectacular but very busy. Getting round the island in taxi is expensive cant get anywhere for less tat 40 euros and the mood based pricing on everything is quite amusing once you accept the practice. Be prepared to pay significantly more for any activity at the point of payment compared to the quoted price just accept and enjoy the comical reasoning. Worse we had was a wine tour which miraculously doubled in price. All said an incredibly beautiful island and Carpe Diem is a lovely property

Hotel Carpe Diem was the highlight of our honeymoon vacation. From the moment we arrived, when the gate swung open and we were greeted by Sophia and the hotel staff, we knew we were going to be well taken care of. We had been in communication since 2020 when we were originally planning on taking our trip, but because of the pandemic we had wait two years, and the entire time we were impressed with the care and attention in every email we exchanged.

The suite we stayed in was the size of our apartment and beautifully kept, while the expansive views from the private plunge pool on our terrace were stunning. It was peaceful and quiet and oh so relaxing. Especially the day when we enjoyed a wonderful couples massage in our suite. We loved the made to order breakfast by the pool, delivered with warm and welcome service every morning. We had asked for some recommendations for where to dine and Sophia graciously booked us reservations at some of the best spots in Pyrgos, which did not disappoint. The attention to detail and small gestures of appreciation (welcome wine by the pool, and a bottle of prosecco in our suite) made our stay so memorable. The nights we had the pleasure of staying were truly an experience to remember. We hope to come back and visit again soon.

I can only say my expectations have been widely exceeded. As me and my wife’s flight from Canada was delayed by 6 hours, you can imagine how tired we were. The owner of the hotel personally came to make sure everything was fine, he then offered us a bottle of wine on the house just for the delays of the airlines. We had the best runaway I have ever experienced. Everything was 10/10, the food, the cleanliness, the staff are always smiling, providing a feeling of warmth, comfort and this relaxing retreat was exactly what me and wife needed after years of pandemic lockdowns and very stressful jobs. If you’re coming to Santorini, Carpe Diem is the place to be. Absolutely gorgeous views, top of the line luxurious quality and a calming feeling of serenity.

Positives
Very private ., staff Joanna at breakfast excellent . Cleaning lady very good .

Negatives

Hard seating we asked for an extra chair as the room had one only chair which was reasonably comfortable the couch was hard as Rock and caused serious back pain . We were refused this the manager said there was none available . There were several villas unoccupied . I’m sure a chair could have been borrowed . During all of our stay the hotel was never anywhere near full . Room service charge for the staff to walk 100 yards was £16.50 .. I’m afraid that’s greedy and silly especially when butler service is advertised . I have had butler service several times this is not butler service and there was no notion of it throughout . We also wanted to keep the room for longer than the 12 o’clock checkout as our flight wasn’t until 8 pm . Even though we were told no guests would be arriving until the following day we were refused . Not 5 star treatment I’m afraid . The guy in the reception area could not make a decision without asking the manager .. actually one of the owners . I felt this was unacceptable . We stayed for 10 nights not 1 or 2 snd I do think these two requests should have been fulfilled . As I said no butler service . The owners should visit Dubai and muscat to see how butler service works . Don’t advertise what you dont provide . Bed mattress was as was the couch cushions on concrete base . Not great. Very hard . Very little mention on trip advisor of the hill that must be attempted out if the hotel area . It is very steep snd not a short climb . Some sort of help should be offered ( transportation ) to reach the top . There were two couples of a similar age to us 60s who where dumbfounded that the climb was never mentioned . Anyone with mobility problems would be stuck I’m afraid without taxis which charge a lot for short journeys . Expensive little island but very pretty .

Great suites with lots of personal space inside and out. The hotel is north facing and has stunning views up the island to Fira and Oia, but can catch the full force of the prevailing northerly winds. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The drive out of the hotel to the road is VERY steep, some will find this a problem. Only 7-8 mins walk to Pyrgos centre which is picturesque and has many restaurants and cafe bars. The Perrissa to Fira bus comes through Pyrgos and is very cheap (€1:60 pp one way.

We stayed for 10 days with the view to totally chill out. Carpe Diem is the ideal place to do this with quiet surroundings, great location and your own little bit of Santorini with your own suite, veranda and pool. Each day we would have breakfast, travel out to a location on the Island, bit of lunch and then back to Carpe Diem to relax, enjoy the afternoon sun, dip in the pool and then watch the famous sun sets.
We had a great break, recharged the batteries and got to see a beautiful Island.

Many Thanks

John & Sian Jones

We have stayed at Carpe Diem four times and will continue to go back. Our first time back since pre-pandemic and everything is still exceptional.

The staff are fantastic, Sotiris, Sofia and their team are wonderfully welcoming, efficient, helpful and have a great attitude.

The location is wonderful, with amazing views away from the bustle of Oia and Fira, Pyrgos is much quieter but has all of the charm and fantastic restaurants. The food at Carpe Diem is also always top notch.

The rooms are simple but beautiful, light and airy and all with their own pool and sunset view.

Everything about Carpe Diem is fantastic, it has a very private exclusive feel and a calming relaxed atmosphere, which is why we continue to go back time after time.

One piece of advice, if you are of limited mobility you may struggle to walk in to Pyrgos as the road in to the hotel is very steep, but the whole of Santorini is full of steps and slopes and little uneven paths so be prepared to do lots of walking and bring comfortable shoes if you want to explore. Flat sandals are definitely needed for going out!

Carpe Diem is a beautiful hotel with no detail spared. The rooms are very large, beds are very comfortable, the private pool and lounge areas for each room are also first class. The view you receive from your room and the main hotel area and extremely hard to beat.
The free bottle of sparkling wine, arrival drink and restaurant credit are a really nice touch for a luxury boutique hotel.
With only 11 suites and a private, gated entrance, it gives a very secluded/exclusive feel.
Finally, the service was top notch. The staff will coordinate whatever you want to do or need during (or before) your stay.

I would highly recommend this hotel to couples who appreciate the luxury, boutique feel.

Wonderful boutique hotel in an amazing location, stunning views of Fira and Oia. We visited for our Golden Wedding Anniversary and the management very kindly upgraded us to the biggest suite with a heated plunge pool and large terrace, perfect for watching the sunset. Choice at breakfast was excellent and service exemplary. The staff were very friendly and helpful and any requests were addressed instantly. The room was very clean, comfortable and spacious and cleaned each morning while we were having breakfast. Would definitely recommend Carpe Diem. The only drawback is the steep hill you have to climb to reach the main road, a golf buggy would be a great addition! Also some lighting to help you see your way down in the dark.

We had the privilege to stay at the Carpe Diem on our vacation at Santorini and had an amazing experience. From the moment we stepped foot on their property we felt pampered, wined and dined. I can't remember all the staff members names so I won't mention any because each and every staff member deserves to be acknowledged. The place was immaculate clean, the service was amazing. From ordering our luxury taxis, to helping us with our itinerary, taking our photos, they outdid themselves. We would definitely choose Carpe Diem again.

We went with the Aura suite and found that very private too. Definitely go with the rooms on the upper terrace. We had a lovely stay there and highly recommend. Also agree about giving Sotiris a call.
