I have a up and coming booking soon and contacted hotel to alter dates due to my daughters funeral next week ( she was killed two days ago in Manchester) The hotel informed even death of a child is not grounds to change a booking. This is just sick and horrific I'm disgusted by the actions of the morar hotel...

Thank you for your nice comments. We are delighted you enjoyed the food, which is the one of the prime reasons people flock to Morar to sample the delicious menu in the Silver Sands restaurant with the lovely views. We hope you can come up again some day.

This hotel is in a quiet location by the station with beautiful views over to Rhum and Eigg. Loch Morar is nearby and the silver sands of Morar and Arisaig are within easy reach. The dining room has a magnificent view and the food is good and plentiful.

The last time I had entered this hotel was in 1966.... In fact it was in the week that England won the World Cup..who could forget that ??? Sadly they won't let us...we Scots are reminded of it at every opportunity. On entering the hotel it's like stepping back in time..with lots of comfy chairs everywhere in the lounge area....

We spent a Saturday and Sunday at this hotel and a very nice time we had, OK like all these highland hotels the rooms and bathrooms are a bit tired but to be honest it did not spoil our time there at all, lovely staff and very nice food and reasonable prices, we ate in the bar on first night...

Thank you for your lovely review. We aim to advise guests about the tour dining times and of course any guest can share in their set menu all evening. For the chef's own restaurant menu, we always take reservations around the bigger groups so dishes are always prepared to order . We are pleased you enjoyed your stay.

Small olde world hotel, but pretty comfortable. We stayed for 2 nights while supporting our daughter who was running the 'Road to the Isles' half marathon. We had dinner there both nights, once in the restaurant the other in the bar. Food is very good. The staff in the hotel were all very lovely and so helpful, one even taking...

My wife and I stayed at this Lovely Hotel as part of a package tour to Highlands and Islands. All rooms were very individual with some small and others rather larger. We had Breakfast and Dinner at Hotel during our stay. Menu for Dinner not extensive however all courses had 3 choices which we found quite ok. Food was hot...

Thank you for your review and we are glad you enjoyed your stay here. We are actually situated on Morar Bay but the loch is a 10 minute walk. Yes, we do receive a lot of praise for the meals here. The tour dinners are always three course 3 choice with a homemade soup and yes we aim to make...

Stayed as the last night of a 5 day hiking trip.and enjoyed a relaxing night, very nice bar and room and a first class meal in the restaurant with fantastic views.. The manager Stuart could not do enough to make us, and others we saw him talk to, feel totally welcome and is clearly a true hotelier. We were amazed...

Thanks for your lovely comments. The public bar was reopened in 2015 but the hotel has actually traded continuously with substantial refurbishment in certain areas about 2 years ago. We are pleased everything lived up to expectations and it is our aim to meet or exceed those expectations, especially given the challenges of the remote location. We look forward to...

Having taken longer walking along the incredible beaches than I had planned I missed the train to Mallaig where fish and chips before the train back to Glasgow was a key part of the plan for what was an amazing day. Coming to my rescue was the Morar Hotel which in the 20 mins I had before the train provided...

I know the manager works very hard to please all our guests and we are delighted he was able to offer the takeaway range at such short notice. Nothing is too much trouble for the hotel and yes I think anyone who has completed the journey south knows they have to be looked after, which of course for our Great...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Recently taken over and substantially refurbished, one of Scotland's most historic hotels, the Morar Hotel is a friendly family-owned Edwardian mansion house on the romantic 'Road to the Isles', 3 miles from Mallaig, the Southern Gateway to the Isle of Skye. Commanding breathtaking views of the famous Silver Sands of Morar and the Inner Hebridean islands of Rum & Eigg, its panoramic views and comfortable accommodation have made it the perfect coastal escape for many years. Built in 1902, originally as the Station hotel, it is only metres from the train station. Now a modern character hotel with wifi and satellite TV and open to the public, it is only 50 minutes from Fort William by the new road, or an hour by scheduled train services or in the summer by the special Jacobite Steam Train, as featured in the Harry Potter films. The overnight service from London (Euston) leads to Morar Station opposite the hotel and car hire is available in Fort William or Morar. ... more   less
