The Aultbea Hotel was one of the Highlights of our stay in the North west of Scotland. We ate in the bar as it's more suitable for young kids. In response to a previous review which criticised the waiting times...no, this is not fast food, but I'm more than happy to wait for good, home cooked dishes. We had the... More

We stayed in Aultbea for a week and visited the Aultbea Hotel a number of times. The staff were extremely helpful and could not do enough for us. We had a couple of meals in the bar which were of Fine Dining standard they described each item on the menu which we found very helpful when ordering. Would recommend this... More

We went to Convoy Tavern at about 7pm on a weeknight and were told there was a wait. Never mind, we weren't hungry so we ordered two starters (both assembly only so no cooking to tax the busy kitchen). By the time the starters arrived, it was close to 9.30pm and we were starving. And the portions were tiny: "thick... More

We visited twice, once for drinks, and then for a meal. The owners, were extremely welcoming, there was a unique, happy, relaxed, 'quality' atmosphere all around..we were delighted to meet THE Fat Whippet, …in fact, a most elegant and beautiful AND rare blue (pewter colour) classy whippet who was obviously the brains behind the enterprise. The service was impeccable, the... More

We are doing the Northcoast 500 and stopped here for lunch. Absolutely amazing: excellent food, even better service, good value, cosy and the cutest Whippet I have ever seen! My kids said that the sticky toffee pudding was the best they have ever eaten and they've been trying a few. Definitely stop by!

The hotel was old but refurbished, unfortunately our twin room at 3 steep stairs down into the en-suite bathroom which wasn't very safe especially for anyone not nimble on their feet. Also there was rather a large crack in the wash hand basin! On the whole the food was good although the portion size was very small and lacked vegetables.... More

We stayed in the Aultbea Hotel last year for our annual walking trip to the far north west and immediately rated it as one of the best hotels in the area. Robin and Bilal have done a fantastic job of renovating the hotel and breathing new life into a place in a wonderful location. We consequently had no hesitation in... More

The weather was dull and damp but the reception was warm and welcoming which more than made up - the hotel may be small but it is elegant / modern /clean and warm.the food was superb - my son said that his breakfast was seriously good which describes last nights meal too. My husband rates the food of Michelin star... More

Doesn't look too prepossessing from the car park, but once inside, it's a place full of charm and taste. This is an old hotel that's been taken over and decorated in great taste, with a bar full of new Scottish gins and lots of lovely other drinks, and a very nice restaurant serving very good food. Friendly hotel owners, who... More

Food was delicious, attractively presented and reasonably priced. Good local beer. Relaxed, surprisingly up to date music. Staff friendly and helpful. Comfortable modern surroundings. Shame it's 700 miles from home!
