My husband pondered on whether I should write a review as he suggested we shouldn't let too many people discover this gem of a hotel! I booked a nights stay here as a surprise for my husbands birthday. We only live about an hour away but the delays due to the widening of the A30 made the journey somewhat longer....

We spent a few days in this lovely hotel. Right from the minute we arrived we were delighted. Staff very friendly and helpful. As this is a very private bespoke hotel and many years old there was no lift but a staff member carried our bags to our room. The room and bathroom were perfect in every way, so personal....

I was a bit worried by seeing some of the less than complimentary reviews of this hotel before we arrived but I needn't have been. Staff were friendly and helpful, the food was terrific and our mid-priced 'superior' room was clean, bright and airy. We could even see the sea from the open window although we hadn't forked out for...

We were delighted to find things at the Lugger to be as good as we remembered. We received a warm welcome and were pleased with our spacious and well equipped room. The food and service was very good. Lack of a phone signal/internet connection was not a problem as we were in such an idyllic spot.

Appalling standard and shockingly expensive. Worst sandwiches I have had for years. Too late we found a private house selling hot, home made pasties, just up the road - and another pub. Yes, a lovely setting, but a dreadful lunch. Sorry, owners, but it was awful.

Not impressed. No phone signal or internet connection. Greeted with a kurt "yes?" from lady on reception. Not, "good afternoon. How was your journey? " Room was their top speck, all singing & dancing £200/night, but was overly priced and shabby in places. Definitely paid for the location rather than the luxury. Bathroom was tired and scruffy. Cleaning was somewhat...

We have just returned home after the most perfect of weeks spent at The Lugger. We came to unwind and de-stress, and we most certainly achieved it !! The staff were helpful , polite and professional . The room had a balcony overlooking the harbour and was idyllic. Everything was scrupulously clean, and we came back to our room at...

I booked a weekend visit at The Lugger Hotel in Portloe as a surprise for our first wedding anniversary. We live in Cornwall and travel all over the county for our jobs but neither of us had been to Portloe. The hotel is as close as you could get to the coast line in the most beautiful setting of Portloe....

Arrived fairly early so checked in to a lovely room and went for a walk along the cliffs. Good evening exercise after a drive down from London. The room had a terrace and it was great to sit out and drink a cup of tea after the walk. Tea/coffee things in the room with fresh milk in the fridge. Room...
