The staff are magnificent - and of course the restaurants food is the star attraction. The hotel is traditional and the gardnes naturalistic and modern, Growing many of their own veg it's a highlight of the weekend to take a walk around the stunning property.

We were ‘Lavande’ and it was a perfect suite in every way, truly beautiful and nothing missed - everything is of the utmost quality, even an amazing sewing basket too! Even the fruit bowl and decanter of Madeira were outstanding! The bathroom was fabulous, with TV over the bath too! I can’t speak highly enough of it all in fact and it reminds me of my beloved late aunt’s much missed manor house ... everything was blissful from start to finish. No the wine flight is separate. We didn’t have it and felt we didn’t need it (just had a bottle then a digestif in the lounge afterwards) as the food was so heavenly and definitely the main focus ... we’ve eaten in a LOT of very nice restaurants/hotels but this is something else ... no wonder at all that it was ranked #1 in U.K. for so long! Be sure to allow plenty of time to relax enjoy an aperitif in the lounge before you go into dinner and don’t miss the gardens and mushroom valley ... wow, those gardeners really know what they’re doing - it’s all so bountiful and prolific ... wonderful to see all the vegetables and micro, herbs etc growing for use in the restaurant. Oh and a wander around the church next door is lovely too. Ahhh, enjoy, I’m envious 😍 I’d be back there in a heartbeat.
