My review is about the pub and the food and not about the hotel as we did not stay there. They offer B&B service though. The Red Lion was recommended by our host where we stayed. We visited the pub on our first night in Wales. They are in the middle of the village and there is free parking available....

Seriously I have no idea how they get their roast beef so tender and soft! It arrives on a hot plate with a roastie, Yorkie and gravy, then your veg follows which is mash, mashed carrots, creamed leeks and peas and more gravy. Have never been able to fault our Sunday lunch here the quality is 100% consistently amazing. Well...

My wife and I, plus our two dogs stayed in early February. Warm welcome from Berwyn the landlord as usual, excellent locally brewed beer and delicious home cooked meals. The T bone steak is the best you'll find, as is the gammon. My wife also enjoyed the tasty homemade vegetable lasagne. Perfect location for exploring Southern Snowdonia. A variety of...

Lots of local history to this pub. Bandits run amoc through village putting fear into anyone who crossed their path. Very old wooden table in middle of bar floor. Lovely welcoming atmosphere no need to dress up. Home cooked food and good choice of drink, much needed after a long walk. Car park has plenty of spaces.

We have visited this lovely friendly pub 3 times, and was worth it, everything was fresh home cooked food, the Bara Brith bread & butter pudding to die for, log fire in the bar, lovely locals. We are planning to stay next May for a week.

Stayed for one night whilst walking Cambrian Way, turned up without booking on the off chance of a vacancy, was rewarded with good friendly service, good food and comfortable accommodation. Will stay again.

This is a very friendly, real village pub, where all are made to feel welcome. It is not smart at all, but it has a good atmosphere, and is a great stopping off point if you are walking in the area, or en route elsewhere. The old bar is quaint and has an open fire in winter. Sunday lunches are quite...

We visited this pub while staying in a cottage 2 miles away. We had 2 evening meals during our stay and both meals were very nice and decent portions. On our second visit the pub was quite busy and had a party of 15 people eating but we still received our meals timely. The locals were very chatty with us...

Had an evening meal here on the recommendation of the owners of the B&B that we were staying at. Small, local pub at end if the village street so wouldn't have found it without directions. Very friendly staff and locals. Good pub food freshly cooked.

“There are few rooms, so book early, and if you can get the family room, it has two doubles and two bunk beds for any big family on a budget.”

“Rooms at the front are over the bar area, so if you want an early night when the bar's busy, it can be a bit noisy. The ones at the back are out of the way if you're a light sleeper.”
