Spent a night here on our way to Scotland and would happily have stayed longer. The room overlooking the lake was huge, comfortable and beautifully furnished; both the dinner we ate in the restaurant and breakfast the next morning were delicious. The grounds are well maintained and were full of huge rhododendrons in flower. We would gladly stay here again.

We were staying in the area and Rampsbeck came highly recommended in the Good Food Guide reviews - previously well tried & trusted. We booked for dinner - reception was underwhelming, canapes were soggy, drinks did not always make it in to the glass(!), dinner was really very average from a number of aspects, service brusque, decor outdated, atmosphere staid... The hotel enjoys an enviable outlook providing excellent views of the lake and surrounded by beautiful landscaped gardens and open land beyond to walk our doges. A highlight for us was to be able to sit on our balcony with a drink in fine weather watching the ferry sail up and down the lake. I loved the fact that we... More

We visited here for a two night stay including fine dining on one evening. The hotel is a bit remote, so a car is a must. You are right on the banks of the lake with superb views of the surrounding hills. The room was spotless with a large bathroom. Downstairs there were plenty of seating areas to relax in... More

We have stayed at the Rampsbeck many times before and each time doesn't disappoint . Stunning hotel, fantastic staff, wonderful food, just a perfect stay. It is the only hotel that makes me feel really blue when it comes to checking out time as I never want to leave!

The hotel itself was great with lovely gardens and beside the lake edge which was excellent for my dog. We stayed on a dinner, bed and breakfast basis and the food and room were of a very high standard. What made the stay was the staff who were friendly and welcoming with nothing being too much trouble. We would definitely... More

What a great place to stay! We rented Willow cottage for two nights and wish we could have stayed longer! The cottage is spacious and well equipped; the beds are comfortable and the sheets and blankets are luxurious; staff were kind and helpful. The cottage also has a beautiful view over Ullswater. Added to all that, you have access to... More

We stayed here on a weekend mini break - an escape from the kids for a night. Set in the lakes, I need say no more. And it's nearly ON a lake. Indie, the hotel has large high ceilings, big classic furniture, with timely decor as you'd expect. The staff were all incredibly friendly. Our room (large) overlooked the lake.... More

I have stayed at this hotel a couple of times before. The public areas have been redecorated since my first visit, and it is now one of the nicest of the luxury hotels in the Lake District. The food is good and the bedrooms are well equipped and very comfortable.
