Very enjoyable cream tea last Sunday, nice atmosphere in the Conservatory. We wanted to use the large lounge but because it is so popular with people having High Tea we could not be accommodated, suggest you book in advance!

We stayed here overnight on a weekend. We were both looking forward to chilling out after a busy week at work. We arrived at about check in time. Soon we were within our 'Deluxe' room. After making it past the housekeeping trolleys cluttering up the corridor. Soon we were changed into our bathing costumes and robes and bedding to the...

Dear milkey64, Thank you for your review following from your weekend visit to Matfen Hall. I’m sorry that a number of aspects of your visit have seemingly marred your overall experience. I’d like to touch on a number of points if I may; The spa team take as many bookings as they can in order that as many guests as...

Stayed here for two nights this week after visiting last year. Service is friendly and super efficient, food absolutely excellent and the room was very comfortable and very well serviced. Every time we stay here we have a great time and feel rather cossetted.

We last stayed here twelve years ago, and gave it a rave review then. Thought we would go back to the area for a few days and this hotel was our clear top choice. The rooms, service, staff and facilities are still of a very high standard, but we felt that it had lost its edge a bit this time....

I visited here with 3 friends for an overnight stay and spa break. Absolutely fabulous! Hotel is amazing and the service is outstanding. We had such a lovely night and it was so relaxing! The beauty therapists were so friendly and the food in the library restaurant was delicious. Would definitely go back!

Booked to stay for 1 night with evening meal and breakfast. From the moment we arrived the staff were so helpful and friendly. We had our evening meal in The Library Restaurant and the food was amazing and the service was excellent. There was plenty of choice for breakfast also and the staff were happy to accommodate with any requests....

My wife & I took our mothers for a sunday lunch, arrived for our 12.45 booking in time despite the lack of signage from the car park (also experienced by another party who also initially went to the keepers lodge by mistake). After being seated in the pre-dining area it took another 30 minutes to be offered a menu &...

Dear offquay, Thank you for your review following from your visit to Matfen Hall for Sunday Lunch. I’m saddened that your visit was not as good as it could have been. The Library Restaurant is our formal dining area, and offers high quality, locally sourced produce, which is all freshly prepared and cooked to order. With this in mind, service...

We have stayed here several times and it has always been very good. Comfortable rooms, friendly staff and great food - the Library restaurant is always fabulous. The only moans are: One of our party was staying on the first floor and had a very disturbed night due to incredibly squeaky floorboards in the room above! Some of the sockets...

Had a lovely relaxing stay at Matfen Hall. A few things to point out: Avoid the pool 4-6 if you want a quiet swim as they have swimming lessons for children. Food was lovely although there wasn't much on the menu that I liked as I'm fussy. I asked for a plain chicken breast and the guy was lovely and...

This place is lovely. We had a beautiful old room looking out across the golf course, although a sudden rise in outside temperatures meant it was a bit warm. At dinner the food, wine and service were all excellent, served in the beautiful library as was breakfast. Again, quality and choice first class with service to match. Didn't try the...
