Took the wife for a Christmas eve treat. And a treat it was. Car park full to the brim, not a seat in the pub, stood waiting in this charming pub for a seat to become available, Even though extremely busy the staff were great. which wasn't long at all. Food arrived fairly quickly considering how busy it was. Love...

The Inn is very old with lovely bar areas, low doorways and a nice beer garden. The location is amazing - up on the moors away from anywhere. The rooms were very nice and staff friendly. Was a highlight of the Coast to Coast walk!

The Lion Inn is in a remote location on the North Yorks Moors with wonderful panoramic views. The place is welcoming with real fires in the bars and restaurant and has a nice 'feel' to it. The bedrooms were spotless, comfortable and warm, in fact a little too warm through the night. On arrival we booked a table for our...

There are not so many places where you can find warming food and roaring fires in the top of the Yorkshire Moors, but this is one. On the course of the Coast to Coast Walk it is also well known by locals and day trippers for serving large portions of good food - with a great variety available. They also...

The Lion Inn is centuries old, with a place of hospitality on the site, at times monastic perhaps since the 13th century. I have known it for almost 70 years, since childhood, being brought during family holidays at nearby Lealholm. More recently I became Vicar of Kirkbymoorside, with Farndale, Bransdale and Gillamoor some 30yrs ago and was delighted to discover...

We stayed at the Lion Inn on Saturday 24th October, had a fantastic stay we absolutely love it and will definitely be coming back to visit again. I was really surprised at how big the place was and it was packed all day & night to say it's in the middle of nowhere. Portion sizes were huge for the food,...

This Inn is on top of the moor, with great views(when there is no hill fog) The rooms are adequate but the beds are a little on the small side. Good selection of beer and spirits including Pusser's Rum (one of my favourite) The food was excellent, adequate portions and well cooked, The staff are friendly even when busy, (country...

Visited in June and booked to stay for 3 nights. Room mediocre and bed creaked every time one of us turned over. Requested poached eggs on toast for breakfast. Literally received two overcooked eggs in the middle of a dinner plate and a piece of cold pre buttered toast cut in half. Breakfasts mixed up with the table seated next...

Had not been for some time but it was just as I remembered. Not as busy as usual, so easy to find a table and order food. The cod was fantastic with crispy batter and tasty white fish and as always a massive portion. Not the cheapest place to eat but if you want good home cooked food in lovely...

We visited here on 6th October 2015 as it was recommended by the place we was staying. Me and boyfriend both had a starter which was lovely, for main course he had the T- bone steak and I had the lamb, it was the best lamb if ever had! The only down fall was that we didn't have any room...
