Detailed Reviews
We stayed 2 nights in room 1 which is small but beautifully decorated, spotless and all the furnishings and extras are high quality. We were with friends and thoroughly enjoyed the lounge and veranda for social time together over coffee and wine. We also ate lunch on the veranda.
The staff are extraordinary- nothing is too much trouble.
Will return again as we loved the place and the people.
It’s an easy walk up the hill and over to the surf beach. Lots to explore close by.

Dining is great, staff are fantastic, location very handy with short easy walk to ocean beach although rooms and bathrooms are tiny. Make your room choice carefully - Room 4 has no guests clumping past on wooden floors but Room 1 has every guest clump past. Rood noise at night is very low and during the day you are out and about. We would happily return but not to room 1.

Nice spot for an overnight stay. The room and bathroom are big enough with everything you'd need, including a good tv and mini bar. As the rooms are above the restaurant, there is a bit of noise at night when they're packing up the outdoor chairs but it doesn't last long. Staff are friendly and helpful, there's extra touches including free fruit and an area to eat upstairs for guests. The food for dinner is delicious!

I would recommend to everyone don't go there . For the Price of the room $ 352 and another cost for parking of $ 100 for the night across the road , Also I asked to eat at 7 pm when booking however it took us a lot longer to get to the Hotel because of traffic I asked to eat at 7.30 so we could have a shower before dinner and I was told they only had 2 bookings so I would have to eat at 7 pm and I should hurry up . The food was very poor I give it a 2 and a light breakfast was included however in the morning I was told the breakfast was not happening and we will have to go to another location for breakfast . I give the experience a big 0 .

We stayed for 2 nights in room 6 and, although the room was small, it was beautifully furnished and extremely comfortable. Everything in the room was top quality and it was immaculately clean. All the staff were very friendly and efficient. We stayed there to have a celebratory lunch for my husbands 70th birthday so friends stayed one night too. The guest lounge and courtyard were so lovely and a great place for us all to meet and chat. The group lunch we had in the restaurant was perfect. A very special place to stay.

My husband and I had lunch with a group of friends at Barrenjoey House recently and we were so disappointed. We had a wonderful experience three years ago but unfortunately, this experience was not what we remembered. First, let me say the staff were attentive and sincerely wanted to make our experience enjoyable. However, the food really let this restaurant down. We both ordered the lobster risotto because it sounded so lovely on the menu. Unfortunately, it was so salty as well as being pureed or cooked down to the consistency of baby food that it was unedible. Our waiter offered us a dessert on the house. We ordered the Eton mess which appeared at the table looking like a complete mess but with the addition of a hair! Although they did take our meals off the bill our experience was truly tarnished.

Celebrated our anniversary at Barrenjoey House again. Sat at the front on the balcony windy day had to move tables. Were moved to a table of 8 (we were the only ones seated) which we agreed to do. Entrees were great, my husbands main was great but my steak/mash and jus were dreadful. Steak tasted frozen, mash very ordinary. Ordered dessert and coffee - my dessert came but the coffee did not come for nearly 20 mins - and it was stone cold. We felt abandoned with the poor service. When we left we noticed that they had closed the front shutters for the other diners! Did ask for a bill but it never came had to pay on the way out. Very disappointed will never return which is a shame as we have always had great times there.

Unfortunately, we were in the smallest room at Barrenjoey House and, if staying again, would book another room. In saying this, it's a wonderful establishment with lovely rooms, very friendly and helpful staff and such a beautiful environment for the guests with a guest's lounge and guest's terrace which we used often. We wouldn't hesitate to stay at Barrenjoey House again but, next time, a different room choice.

Since reopening last year Barrenjoey House has become our go to restaurant for a casual long lunch. Relaxed and informal with a touch of casual class. Great food and wine..top tip try the watermelon salad!! We’ll return often.
