We had arrived late owing to traffic congestion (the M40 was completely blocked, all the lanes) and consequently our 3 year old had enjoyed the pleasures of sleeping for a number of hours in the car- as any parent knows, this is a harbinger of doom for the evening ahead! We struggled to get him to sleep by the latest...

We visited the elms for a half day spa break. The girls on reception were lovely when we arrived, but the lady serving the cream tea was a little blunt for that environment we felt. The treatments we had were fantastic and well worth the money. The pool was a nice addition and enjoyable until it got inundated with children...

Dear bca_1001, Thank you for writing your review after recently visiting the spa at the Elms. It is a pleasure to read how friendly the team were when you arrived, and how much you enjoyed the Elemis treatments and the pool. Because the Elms is owned by "Luxury family hotels", we do tend to find that we have an influx...

The Elms was billed (both by price and on the website) as a luxurious top range hotel but the reality is it is run down and needs a serious overhaul. Unfortunately the hotel looks as though it has been neglected for years - peeling paintwork, rotten woodwork, broken tiles, dirty and torn soft furnishing. Although there were some lovely touches...

Tired looking, poor food, lack of service and attention (with an exception of one lovely person, who was very helpful), bar smelled of alcohol even through it was supposed to be a child friendly place, equipment (DVD etc did not work in the room), I can just go on and on. I wrote to the manager, Michael Page, and he...

Dear Zararansley997, Thank you for staying at the Elms, and for taking the time to write your review. I am sorry that you felt your stay was disapointing, I had planned to respond to your email after the busy Easter weekend as I had prioritised my time to supporting the team and looking after our guests at such a busy...

We absolutely loved our stay here. Our toddler was so well looked after! If you have kids, this place is a must. They have everything you could possibly need for kids and us adults can enjoy a cocktail and the spa! Food was ok but a new chef is apparently starting soon so we will look forward to returning then....

This very much a family hotel and we had a wonderful stay. The staff ( particularly Jane) were superb and made our children feel very welcome! The crèche, the pool, and spa were excellent and on a par, if not better than the Ickworth. We loved feeding George the Cat! We had great family dinners and breakfast where we and...

Very much a mid-range family hotel. Not suitable for those looking to use the facilities without children. Very small spa which was pretty disappointing, especially as it was quite full of families, with children taking over the pool. This would have been fine if it was explained to guests who could then choose whether to go ahead with their booking,...

Dear Londontraveller54, Thank you for writing your review of a recent trip to our spa. I am sorry that you found the hotel to have too many families and children. The Elms is currently owned by luxury family hotels who do specialise in family orientated leisure guests, and the hotel naturally has higher levels of occupancy around the busy Easter...

Two of my friends and I visited The Elms on Monday 3rd April and had the most delicious meal ever. Food was just to die for. It was a special occasion for us and I have to say we couldn't have chosen a better restaurant. Staff was very attentive and professional, pure example of good customer service, they made us...

At 7 pm we had NO water, hot or cold and had to wash our hands, brush teeth etc with bottled water. Reception said too many people had used all the hot water from the tank so we were unable to shower or bath before dinner! Didn't give a reason for having no cold water though, not even a trickle...

Dear Adrian S, Thank you for staying at the Elms, and for writing your review. Visited recently for a half-day spa experience for my sisters birthday. Facilities were lovely and staff all very helpful and everything very organised, but a serious lack of space to do any relaxing between treatments or by the pools.
