We attended a wedding at Burg Schwarzenstein and everything was just great, from the friendly staff to the most beautiful ceremony we have ever been. Rooms are spacious and well equipped and food was fantastic. Certainly a place for a romantic weekend.

Burg Schwarzenstein, or Blackstone Castle to give its literal English translation, is a 38 room Hotel and Restaurant perched high on the hillside in the village of Johannisberg above the Rhine region of Geisenheim to the West of Frankfurt. Although a bit in the middle of nowhere its isolated position is quiet and picturesque, especially as it affords excellent views...

We stayed for a couple of days in this fantastic hotel. Great rooms and excellent service, we had also the possibility to have dinner in their Gourmet Restaurant and it was fantastic. I have seldom eaten that well, everythin was perfect, the presentation , the equilibrium in taste just great. They have also a great sommelier Mr Michel and I...

I stayed at Burg Schwarzenstein 14 - 16 October. Let me begin to say that I travel a lot – both business and personal travel. Typically, I spend 2 – 3 weeks per year in hotels outside of the US (mainly Western Europe). I only mention that so you can appreciate that I a lot to compare this hotel with....

I could not have been made to feel more welcome and special by the staff. Everyone went out of their way to make sure I was comfortable. All facilities are first class, and the views and walks are not to be missed.

Wanted to celebrate our wedding anniversary in style and this hotel did not disappoint. Excellent service all around, the room is beautiful- the hermes toiletries and the complimentary mini bar are great perks. We ate at both restaurants. We also loved the wineries in the surrounding area, we were able to do some great wine tasting.

Amazing. Splurge on the last day of vacation for the panorama suite. Worth it! Views over the vines to the Rhine. Dined in the 2nd restaurant – just fine. Pictures of the room show how splendid. Front desk service is amongst the top we have had in Europe. Totally recommended!

Went for a business conference and was pleasantly surprised with the nice hotel. The in room bar was all free to have! So were the small and nice additions to the room. All in all it was a semi 5* experience in 4 star property. The room service was prompt and overall the hotel left little to complain.

While this is probably among the best places in the region for family events (weddings, anniversaries) or business retreates, it can also serve as a very comfortable basis for excursions in the "Rheingau" area, even if only for a night, provided you have a car. The hotel`s rooms and suites are in a newly built building in the park, while...

Parts of the hotel are newly renovated, modern and very nice. We spent 1 night in the renovated rooms that were tastfully furnished and offered Hermes amenities in the bathroom. It has to mentioned that there was no bathtub in my room. If you set value on a bathtub you should explicitly mention it at booking. Breakfast was ok but...
