On arrival we were given welcome drinks, quick check in and transported to our room by tuktuk. The room was very spacious, modern, lovely balcony over looking the ocean and large bathroom. The super king bed was so comfortable, we slept so well during our stay. You could even book your favoured pillows via the app (4 choices available) which is a nice touch. Room had a safe, hair dryer and great air conditioning. We used room service and food arrived very quickly, and plates were collected afterwards.
The housekeeper kept the room immaculate throughout our stay, always leaving fresh towels, bottled water and mini bar if required. There was very little noise and although there were steps round the hotel it was not problematic and kept us fit!
We were in B&B and loved the breakfasts. The restaurant was pretty quiet til 8am and then got busier but tables were cleaned and staff worked very hard to manage new arrivals. The food was a wide selection of traditional Thai dishes (vegan station too); continental choices of pastries, cereals and toast; pancakes and waffles; fruits and juices; and cooked breakfasts. 10/10 for the food.
We wanted a relaxing break so liked the Pomolo pool which was quite quiet. Pool was kept very clean. Staff often brought a cold glass of water and fruit skewers at lunch time, which was much appreciated. You could order lunch by the pool, or treat yourself to a floating breakfast (additional cost). There were pool towels available at poolside and an iced water dispenser, or you could order drinks from poolside bar.
The hotel drivers could ferry you round the hotel in tuktuks if you found the steps too much. They also provided transport to the beach every hour til 6pm. It is a short walk to Karon Beach and an array of restaurants, bars and shopping opportunities. We generally walked to Karon Beach but used Grab app for taxi to Kata area. This service was excellent.
The staff are all a credit to the hotel, everyone greets you with a smile and wonderful customer care. I would highly recommend this hotel and dont think you would have any complaints.

All the staff were friendly and polite and well maintained garden, room, facilities, pools.
The pool was excellent, though it was a bit frustrating with several young Asian couples, not from the same pool-access rooms, showing up and making noise while taking selfies. Our room was almost private pool access room so there should be restrictions on entry for guests not staying in the same room types.
The room wasn't big but good enough for a couple and provided complimentary daily soft drinks and waters. Our room was super clean everyday and the housekeeping lady was very lovely always arrived at earliest possible when we needed housekeeping.
Our room located on top of the hill so it was a bit far from the lobby and breakfast area. However, it was walking distance within a 10-mins, so we didn’t request the buggy car except for check-in and out.
Everything's great except for location and breakfast.
The resort provided free shuttle to Karon Beach 4 times daily but all other times had to catch the bolt taxi. As resort located quite far from everything, transportation (taxi, bolt, grab) costs can be high min 200 baht for short one way.
And we were little bit disappointed with breakfast.
Firstly, dining area was uncomfortably warm, making it hard to enjoy the meal.
Over our 4-night stay, the food options were almost the same every day, with very limited choices, and the hot dishes lacked flavor. And the fruits and juices weren’t replenished quickly, and it was a bit challenging to communicate with the staff at the egg and noodle stations.
Overall we had great experience and we would love to come back again next year.
Highly recommended if you're looking for quiet relaxing holiday👍
It’s a lovely hotel situated on a hillside above Karon Beach. The accommodation is split into small low level apartment blocks with verdant greenery throughout the hotel grounds.
This was our fourth visit to Karon Beach and the third time we have stayed at the Mandarava. The bedrooms are spacious, well appointed and immaculately clean. The bathroom is roomy, great shower and also a large two person bath, which we never used as the shower was so good.
Breakfast was included in the package and the restaurant was open air with great views over the hillside. There was a good selection of food on offer to suit all tastes.
As the hotel is on a hillside getting to our room involved a lot of steps, it kept us exercised but the hotel does lay on motorised transport for those who don’t want to do the climb.
All staff at the hotel were extremely helpful and welcoming, cleaners, gardeners, reception staff, restaurant staff, and concierge personnel without exception. There is a decent gym as well for those who want to keep fit.
In all a super hotel which I would highly recommend.

From the moment we stepped into the open air lobby, the staff’s warm hospitality made us feel like cherished guests.
The room was spacious, modern and comfort, impeccably clean with picturesque views overlooking the tranquil forest setting near the Cheeva Spa.
Food throughout the entire resort was first class, fresh, creative and well executed in all restaurants. Charm Thai served particularly well executed Thai food in great surroundings but equally the Chomtaly Restaurant for breakfast lunch or dinner serves a wide selection of both Thai and western dishes.
We had several treatments at Cheeva Spa which were first class; the rituals were a nice touch with Thai tea on arrival and departure. Milky was particularly good therapist attending carefully to an ongoing back problem.
The highlight here was undoubtedly the staff, all of whom were friendly, helpful and went that extra mile to make everything just right. Ninja, the Food & Beverage Manager, Neng & Mark were especially helpful as was Nuch on Reception Front Desk in helping make special arrangements for my sister’s birthday celebrations.
The hotel is located in a quiet area just about 10 mins walk from the local village and Karon beach. All local areas are just TBH 200 in a taxi/ tuk tuk. Local restaurant Sweet and Sour was brilliant, amazing food for such good value; we struggled to spend £20 incl tips for 5/6 dishes & drinks…..we would highly recommend. Rosmarino at Karon Beach serves the best pasta outside Italy with authentic dishes & great cooking which was a real treat.
Mandarava truly exceeded our expectations, making our holiday unforgettable. Highly recommended!
The beach is calm, beautiful, quiet, suitable for family holidays, more or less clean, in October sometimes stormy, after the rains brings a lot of mud and debris. Huge downside of the beach: no changing rooms, no shower, nowhere to wash your feet. There is a public pay toilet 10 baht - 35 rubles (I think there are two for the whole beach), dirty.
Along the entire beach and inland there are a huge number of cafes and markets. Everything tastes good, the prices are almost the same.
Nightlife in Patong (15 minutes by taxi).

The architecture is contemporary and very neat. The infinity pools are a pleasure for the eyes but also for cooling off after a long day of expedition. Moreover, it includes: a jacuzzi and a back massage by jets.
In the swimming pool you will find a bar (with seats in the water) which will allow you to order cocktails, all types of drinks but also dishes from the restaurant delivered to the poolside.
The rooms are spotless and cleaned every day. In addition, they are very spacious. There you will find air conditioning plus a ceiling fan, a minibar with free bottled water, a shower and a bathtub, all toiletries and a balcony.
Two restaurants are present on the site. We tried just one. And the dishes were plentiful and very good at a very reasonable price.
Breakfast is varied. You will find everything sweet and savory. I must admit that I missed French pastries a little (the ones you usually find when traveling in many countries). There are still croissants. Cooks are there to make omelettes to order, rotis (a type of Thai banana pancake) and other pancakes…
The staff is very polite, very smiling (welcome to Thailand) and always ready to help you. He generally speaks English but some also speak French. Either way, they adapt to you!
The hotel is well located (far from the noise of the beach road and quite close to the beach). The return from the beach is still a bit laborious but the hotel provides shuttles at specific times.
Also, you can travel outside of Karon with a driver called by the hotel or using the usual means in Thailand.
To sum up, we had a very good experience with the Mandarava resort & spa. And we'll probably come back to that.

The resort itself is very hilly, but if you do not like this, the hotel can provide you with transport for around the resort and to go to Karon beach. They are like a milk float seating around 10 people. So, if walking in hilly areas isn't your thing, this is easily resolved by either flagging a driver down or by booking it at reception.
We stayed half board and the food is lovely! And plenty of it! I am an extremely fussy eater and there was still plenty for me. The breakfast is buffet style, with egg station, pancake and waffle station, vegan and noodle soup stations. The evening meal or lunch is by menu,
The room was nicely decorated and modern, and spacious with bottles of water provided every day in the fridge. Also water stations around the resort to refill free of charge. The bathroom was huge and again modern and tasteful with bath and shower.
We had island hopping booked one day but I had taken ill. My husband notified them to rearrange, at a small cost, which they did and the reception notified the housekeeping and when they cleaned our room (I stayed on the balcony) they had left me some flowers and a card! How thoughtful is that??
There are 5 pools, each with towels to help yourself and all have swim up bars. Happy hour is 4-6 each day and cocktails are half price!! Loved that!!
On the day of departure we had asked reception if we could be given breakfast early, so they provided us with picnic boxes each to be eaten at our leisure.
Excursions; if you want to book something, walk out of the resort, turn left and follow the road towards the town. On your right, near a corner, there is a small travel shop and their excursions are half the price of what you are charged with the reps. The lady who works there is lovely too and she is there constantly!!
We would strongly recommend anyone to stay at this hotel for cleanliness, good food and great service! If we were to return to Thailand, we would certainly stay here again. Well done Mandarava team!

We chose a hotel in the Karon Beach area because we know this place well. Due to the strong waves at this time of year, we didn’t really count on the beach, so we looked for a hotel only with a pool, but with the possibility of walking along the sea.
Looking ahead, I will say that the balance of activity in this case turned out to be ideal - the hotel is located a 10-15 minute walk from Karon Beach, slightly uphill. Great option for moderate cardio exercise!
The hotel has three swimming pools, well equipped, sun loungers with umbrellas and mattresses, perfectly clean water, everything is surrounded by greenery and flowers.
The room is large, newly renovated and has a sea view. Large bed with a comfortable mattress. and pillows, perfect cleanliness. Cleaning was done every day with towels changed.
Breakfasts are organized according to the buffet principle - everything here is predictable, well-made and clearly organized. The hotel has two restaurants with a similar menu, and room service is also provided. Orders are fulfilled almost instantly.
The majority of guests are English-speaking - Australians, New Zealanders, Americans, British, a few Europeans, mostly German-speaking, a few Chinese and Koreans, and there are also compatriots. The crowd is calm, no inconvenience.
The staff is very friendly and helpful.
Payment for accommodation was made on the spot. UnionPay from Gazprombank works.
We are happy with our holiday and can confidently recommend it.

"the setting is so beautiful, however there are a lot of steps from the lobby to restaurant/rooms "Read full review
