In general you feel very comfortable in this structure, it is not renovated but preserved, it is old but the cost of the stay is absolutely appropriate. However, I noticed from the photos and some details that the managers renovate a small part of the structure every year, recently renovating the bathrooms and showers of the swimming pool.
The common area is not bad, the swimming pool is very nice, the bar and restaurant are always available until late in the evening.
The food is excellent and the prices are cheap, I recommend eating the dish of the day they offer.
The location is very strategic for visiting the Eastern part, but it is not directly on the sea, it takes a few minutes by car.
Housekeeping is sufficient. Air conditioning for a fee, wifi only in the common area.
The managers are very good, during the day the "grandfather" comes by and offers fresh fruit such as figs and grapes picked directly from their plants, even some vegetables are from their garden.
We had a great time and my daughter became fond of the "grandfather" of Villa Marina

We had two very enjoyable weeks. We had no bother paying by card or cash. The family made us very welcome, and helped with booking taxis', and any enquiries we had. Each day Maria has a home made greek special on the menu, Thassos brought us fresh fruit from the gardens around the Villa Marina. There is a good bar & evening menu to choose from, we had lovely greek meals here several evenings and then headed to annasaris beach for a walk or got a bus to another location.
We made good use of the pool, and while staying we observed it being cleaned.
One day we got a taxi to lidls in Hersonisos €10 each way and did a big shop as it was way to hot to venture out to the nearest shops and then have to carry all up a steep hill(32-34 degrees) and we are a fit couple. We arranged a time for the taxi to collect us at Lidl. We also found the nearest shops to be expensive.
There is plenty of on site space to park a car if you choose to hire one.
Our second floor apartment had a lovely terrace looking out towards the sea, we enjoyed beautiful views of the evening sun setting. The apartment, has saucepans, frying pan, kettle, hairdryer. It was regularly cleaned, sheets and towels changed regularly. There is a well stocked book library to borrow from. The villa marina is very near bus stops that will take you into Heraklion (and stop at the airport), or the opposite direction to Hersonisos €2 pp. and onto other locations. Which were nice to wonder around or do day trips from. The staff on the buses are very helpful at making sure you are getting on/off at the right stops.
Allow for aircon €10 per day. There is a tax on arrival at the hotel that you need to pay. The hotel is on the flight path for Heraklion airport, the noise of which might not be to everyones liking, but didn't bother us.. The hotel is near a busy road, that didn't bother us but might not be to everyones liking.
This family & staff were all very nice...and work very hard to maintain Villa Marina.
It's definitely a place we would go back to again.

My wife and I have just stayed at villa Marina for 4 days and have loved every minute. The staff couldn't have made us feel any more welcome, they were so friendly and greeted us like old friends. The food was lovely and authentic and they put on weekly bbqs which are an added bonus. The rooms are standard but very clean and spacious and you have the option to add on air conditioning at a small added cost which we would recommend. Overall, we had an amazing stay and would definitely like to return here in the future. The kindness and personal touch the owners bring to your stay makes the hotel that more special than others. A great place for couples to chill out and switch off at and for families to enjoy

We had a wonderful holiday and received a warm welcome by Marina,Tassos and family. The gardens were beautiful and we stayed in an apartment which was spacious and cleaned daily by the lovely Maria who always greeted us with a smile. Large private ground floor balcony which overlooked the rear gardens with stunning views of the sea, room number 1. Food was delicious and there were daily specials, BBQ night was really good fun, great food and Greek dancing by Spiros. There was also an evening where we ate chicken and various meats off the spit served with oven potatoes in lemon and served with salad, really tasty! The beach was lovely and never crowded with free sunbeds if you had a drink/meal at the couple of tavernas. 15 mins walk down,a little longer to walk back as there is an incline. The bus route was very good so was able to visit other resorts day or night. Marina, Tassos and all the staff work really hard from early morning and we enjoyed late night drinks at the bar until early hours meeting some lovely people here. The pool area is lovely with comfy sunbeds and we were often given fresh fruit and tomatoes from the gardens which were grown by Tassos. Such a friendly place to stay and we were sad to leave. Thank you Marina and family for all your kindness for making our holiday and Wedding Anniversary extra special. Dawn and Brian xxx Room 1

An old hotel that has started to show signs of fatigue... The mattresses are finished and need to be replaced immediately! Where things get confusing is at breakfast, where each item is charged separately, as well as the second complementary coffee!!!... The air condition is also charged separately and I also note the absent TV!... In general, it exudes an atmosphere of tight supply under a cloak of coziness, politeness and "family" atmosphere....

Tasso and Marina are fantastic hosts and make you feel part of the family. The food that Marina cooks is wonderful and value for money we ate there every night of our 8 nights stay. The accommodation for us was comfortable and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. 💙🇬🇷🩷
Tips for your trip here bring a multi plug extension lead as only two sockets in our apartment the air conditioning at €10 per night is well worth it the hotel tax is minimal. We will definitely go again..
We had a hire vehicle which I would recommend although some staying were there walked to the beach 🏖️

These apartments are good value for money although the rooms are a little bit tired and could do with some things being replaced. The beds are comfy and the rooms are a good size. Marina and her husband work very hard and were very welcoming to us at all times. The BBQ evening was good fun and the food was very good. However we were surprised to find we needed to pay 80€ on arrival for the aircon which we had to have as it was over 30 degrees all week. The beach was about 2O minutes walk away and going there was fine but walking back was a struggle as it was uphill most of the way and trying to climb the hill in 31 degree heat was very uncomfortable. The beach itself wasn’t too bad but it was disappointing to have rocks in the sea quite close to the edge as it was impossible to just walk out and start swimming. You could only wade in up to your knees before reaching a rocky shelf. There was a lot of positives about staying there as the best places to travel to from the apartments were only about 10-15€ and the road train was well worth the 16€ fare to see Old Hersonissis and the port area. Plenty of day trips available to visit other parts of the island. All in all a lovely holiday.

The worst place i have ever stayed in. Customer service was very lacking from the owners Marina & Yassos who always looked tired and annoyed and honestly need to retire now. The Villa is placed right beside a very busy highway so sitting by the pool wasn’t peaceful. The pool was quite often dirty and loungers around it are mismatched and some broken they need to upgrade a lot of the furnishings. It’s not close to any amenities so if you don’t have a car then you have to fork out for a taxi to shop for your self catering essentials and the beach is not that close unless you don’t mind walking 20 minutes and walk back up is on a hill. The room I was in was shocking. Very out dated shower curtain looked dirty very unhygienic. The room was not what i viewed in the pictures on there site. (rm 22).
Don’t stay very budget.

Thank you for taking the time to write your opinion on Villa Marina. We are sorry you were not satisfied by the services provided. Villa Marina operates on a self-catering basis and provides budget accommmodation. The distance from the beach and the market are included in the description of the compound. We hope that we will be in position to better serve you another time..

Set in extensive gardens that slope down the hill, the apartments are attractive and well presented. Spacious and excellent bathroom, and the room is well arranged. Beds are ok but mattresses are a wee bit hard. The terrace us great and there are washing lines set into the wall. Very handy on self catering.
Car parking on site is excellent and you will definitely need a car in this area.
Marina and Tassos are very welcoming and friendly, and work extremely hard to make you feel at home.
However the location of the hotel is quite remote, the walk down to sea front is twenty to thirty minutes depending on your pace, and there are no cafés or shops until you get to the beach area. One coffee shop five minutes up the slip roads is good, but apart from that, all other cafés or places to eat are a taxi ride away. Buses are frequent but the main road is extremely busy and crossing it to access one of the stops is very challenging and not for people with any walking or mobility issues. Hersonissus is typical scruffy resort, I don't recommend it. The old town is much better and tavernas in the square are busy and great fun.
The pool area in the hotel is disappointing as it is located by the reception/restaurant/bar area. It needs updating and the space round the pool is very limited, you're either in the blazing sun or stuck in the shade. No umbrellas are on offer. You're also close to the busy road which can be intrusive after a few hours. Not completely peaceful.
The covered lounge area gives an excellent view of the area down to sea front. However the way the hotel has been built means that you get no views when you're in the bar/restaurant area. You need to go to end of the lounge to the large windows to get the view.
I'd recommend this place as a base for walking holidays, or touring the eastern side of Crete by car. It's not adequate for a laze round the pool type holiday. Value for money is fine, and people were very friendly and welcoming. I'm sorry I didn't enjoy my time in Crete as much as I'd hoped.

Arrived on a package holiday at 5am Greek time, no one in reception and forced to wait over 3 hours with no water or food with the person who eventually came to reception screaming that she had been woken up. After waiting for 3 and a half hours taken to the room then told will have to pay 40 euros for the privilege above the cost of the package holiday they have already paid. These are lovely young women who have been intimidated by hotel staff and screamed at on their first independent holiday in a foreign country and I would strongly recommend not booking this hotel where they feel that abuse towards young women is acceptable. It is 43 degrees in Greece currently and they were not even offered water. Shame on you Villa Marina. Avoid at all costs

We did our best to rearrange our reservation plan and accommodate you in a room the soonest possible, since we were not expecting any guests the night before!!
