We visited Merlischachen in the summer of 1985. We arrived late and weren't able to see very much in the dark. We had an amazing room and slept soundly until the morning light. It was really old fashioned and suited us to a T. Once we ventured out for breakfast next door in the Swiss Chalet we couldn't believe our...

I was not aware of the way this property was laid out. We arrived after dark and went to the reception desk. There was no one there, so I called on the phone that was on the counter. I was told that my packet with keys and hotel info was on the table behind me. It was. We thought the...

Rooms are small and cozy. Really old-fashioned chalet. As it was our first visit to Switzerland, we wanted to have authentic experiences "like a local", and choose hotels/ eateries which were near to the roots of the places. This place really deserves a "five out of five" in that. The only pron is that it is really really creaky. We...

I stay in Jagdhaus, a 5 min walk from the main building, on a hill with a great view to the lake. The room was huge and traditionally furnished. The restaurant was lovely in an old style mixed with modern elements and lovely ideas everywhere. The best was the quality of food. I can't remember when I had a better...

We loved the accomodation, it was clean and warm. The hight was interesting, but we enjoyed our authentic night. The only disadvantage of this old accomodation was that we could hear every single steps, movments or nose comming from upstairs. It might disturb others resting during night.

Apparently, the owner has changed and the hotel there is little to do with the hotel we visited 2 years aho. Rooms and breakfsst are really pricey and it is nothing to do with the authhentic of the place we could see previously. It's a pity because we were coming with our parents and they didnt like it at all....

The castle is absolutely stunning and well organized to have guests that enjoy the mistery and romanticism of a place that can tell a lot of history. The breakfast is amazing and well complete. Quiet is the key of the whole

Rooms are stifling hot. We had to beg for a fan (in August!) From staff who were unfriendly and a bit rude. We were told they had run out. In summer, there is no excuse for a hotel this expensive not to have fans for every room. I told reception wr had found wasps in our room and was told...

We stopped by with a family of four, two parents and two children. Got a family room of four in the nearby Jagdschloss which was very nice. Beautiful room with balcony. Had dinner in the Swiss Chalet restaurant. Oke but nothing extraordinary. Sitting adjacent a busy road is not ideal although screens have been erected to stop the noise and...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Typically Swiss The quaint Swiss-Chalet Bed & Breakfast, a wooden house built in the 17th century in a typical Swiss farmhouse style, offers a special atmosphere. Low ceilings, a lot of wood and creaky beams are an experience which you otherwise find in the lofty heights of the mountains. We offer you free parking spaces at the large parking area on the opposite side of the street. Both restaurant and bar are located in the same building. There we serve as well the breakfast from 06.00 – 10.00 o’clock. Check-in & Check out will be in the Schloss-Hotel. ... more   less
