We are a small hotel of only 4 rooms, under new management since 2015. We are situated near the ferry port and beaches of Padang Bai. A traditional Balinese fishing village. Each of our comfortable rooms comes equipped with Air conditioning, Queen sized bed, Mosquito netting, 32cm flat screen TV, Satellite TV channels, Table and chairs, Coffee and tea making facilities, Western style bathroom with full pressure hot water shower, Soap and towels, Air freshener, insect repellent and a small private courtyard with additional outdoor shower. We pride ourselves on the freshness and cleanliness of our rooms. Zen's funky little bar / restaurant has a laid back, relaxed and friendly feel. We have small tables for intimate dining and bench tables for families and larger groups. Here you can sit back, relax and enjoy breakfast, lunch or dinner with a long cool drink. We have great music video's playing, Free WiFi, a well-stocked bar, plus a delicious array of dishes on our menu.

Detailed Reviews
Great stop over location for trip to Gili Air. Bed is comfy, air con and they have a 3 way travel adaptor in the room for charging devices. Staff very friendly and helped us with fast ferry tickets and airport transfers. On busy road but room designed so that bathroom is closest to road to minimise noise. If light sleeper will need ear plugs. Good breakfast.

The room was clean, we stayed for one night before boarding the boat for the Gili’s. For the cost of the room I was very happy. The room has wardrobes, fast showers, a TV with a selection of DVDs, a little patio area, and an amazing location for the port. The food and drinks were cheap. The BLT sandwich was delicious! We also had the burger for dinner and that was also lovely. Overall extremely happy with my experience here. As it is a port please remember to bring your earplugs!

Lala arranged transportation for me from the airport to Zen Inn and my fast boat ticket to Senggigi, Lombok which made my trip completely stress free.
I loved the quirky nature of the accommodation which was clean and comfortable.
The staff were delightful and the driver Angus was excellent.
I will definitely be staying at Zen Inn on my next trip but will have to book early as there are only four rooms.

Excellent room with everything we needed and more. Lovely little private outdoor area. Very clean and very friendly accommodation. Meals were also fresh and tasty. Very close to pier for boat transfers and the beach.
Lala the host is amazing, she is so kind, honest and helpful.
Would definitely stay here again.

We took a chance on Zen Inn as it is close to the ferry point as we wanted to travel to the surliest men I have ever had the misfortune to meet. The rooms we're terrible and we could hear the sound of ferries all through the night. Basically I wouldn't stay here if you paid me, its better to go about 100 metres down the road and stop in one of the better establishments.

This hotel might have looked better in the past. I only know that the maintenance is very low at the moment with tiles falling from the shower walls for example. And for a good night sleep, you better seek another location. The Zen Inn rooms are located directly to a busy street closeby the entrance of the harbor port. This means a lot of traffic and noise. If you are staying for just a day, it's ok. Then you might get loaded with beer in the restaurant of the Zen Inn and pass out in your room. The food is good, especially the snacks and dinner. Zen Inn is cheap. You pay about 14 Euro per night for the room and a simple breakfast. But for 10 Euro more per night you will get better location elsewhere in Padang Bai and a good night's sleep.

So, What do you expect for the price? We have clean rooms, crisp white sheets freshly laundered towels and fresh brown bread for your breakfast. Show me a shower tile that has fallen off the wall and I win very gladly refund your money!

I stayed here for one night before heading to the Gili Islands on the ferry. The staff were super friendly, food in the restaurant was authentic and delicious, room was clean and spacious. Couldn't ask for more. Great value for money

Admittedly we didn't stay here (we stayed at Alola Inn- just down the road & closer to White Sands beach- clean, cheap and free breakfast! Would recommend to everyone!!!) HOWEVER, we did come to Zen Inn for dinner one evening and what a complete waste of time it was!
At first they only brought me my water and totally forgot about my friend's juice. Then they forgot to bring us our starter which was meant to be "home made" bread! Once we questioned where it was- it arrived- a few measley slices of what looked like a supermarket loaf half warmed up in a microwave and a hard lump of butter. Once an hour had passed, we questioned again where our food was, to which the waitress delightfully replied that she didn't know! FINALLY, after ordering more "home made" bread (simply because we were so hungry) our meals arrived. They were nothing special- but edible non-the-less; the least we could expect after having to wait over an hour! We couldn't wait to get out of the place & finally managed too, only after they got our bill wrong THREE times.
It's not worth the hassle & you aren't missing out on anything by not going. If you fancy a few drinks, the reggae bars further along are much nicer and friendlier...

I stayed at the Zen Inn during my trip to Bali while I did my diving certification, and thoroughly enjoyed myself. Liam is a very gracious host and despite having recently been in a moto-crash, provided me with transport, recommendations, and lots of tips for Padang Bai.
The Inn itself is nothing fancy, but it works (though it's probably worth double checking the window coverings to make sure they're airtight). The staff was also very helpful and the food (including nightly barbeques) were great for hanging out/meeting people.
If you're looking for a 5 star hotel, look elsewhere--but if you're looking for a decent sleep and some insider tips in this small little town, I highly recommend Zen Inn.

We stayed one night in this guesthouse (3 were booked) and it was a terrible experience.
The room was really really dirty, full of cockroaches (the flying model !), there was blood on the sheets, and most of the owner was anthipatic !
We do not recommand this guesthouse for nothing. If you have a look in Padang Bai, you will find other guesthouse cleaner, with nice people and well-located.

Hi Emma, how are you?
My name is Lala and I am the manager of Zen inn. Nice to meet you.
Sorry for the late reply Emma. This is the first message I have ever received from Trip Advisor so did not notice it immediately.
We have 2 rooms still available for July 1st but we only have rooms with 1 queen sized bed. We do not have a family room.
How old are your kids Emma?
Depending on the age of your kids, we could give you two rooms side by side, or we could squeeze the 4 of you into one room with a mattress on the floor. It would be a bit cramped as the rooms are fairly small but maybe acceptable if you're only staying for 1 night.
Our direct booking room price is usually 400,000 IDR / night but with extra people in the room we will need to charge a little extra to cover additional breakfasts, laundry etc.
We could offer you the room for 500,000 IDR / night
I hope this information helps Emma
Kindest regards
Lala (Wayan Suartini)
