Second time at this course and it is not one to love. OK for the very low handicap golfer but for the rest of us? The course itself is not overly long but the majority of the Par 4s are around 400 plus which is not balanced. In addition, off line shots are in gorse or bracken so cannot even...

I have now visited Thorpeness 5 times mainly to play golf, the course is close to the sea so can be challenging when the wind blows and there is a lot of gorse bushes, that aside, being on sand, it rarely closes due to wet wintery conditions, they offer excellent stay and play packages, just call them to arrange, the...

As always, Thorpeness provides a great venue for golf, drinks and evening meal. We all had a fantastic time, one or two were more exuberant than others but the staff were very tolerant and well trained to cope with the odd inebriated golfer. If travelling as a couple I would strongly recommend that you check with the hotel to see...

Here at Thorpeness we pride ourselves on staying professional at all times and I am extremely proud of the way my team dealt with this particular group which behaved in a quite extraordinary way. Claire and the team did a superb job of rising above the comments and behaviour of certain individuals, who unfortunately felt it appropriate to act in...

We were looking for somewhere to eat for Sunday lunch and all the pubs were packed. As we had three dogs with us restaurants were out of the question but a local suggested we try the golf club. Staff were very welcoming, dogs were allowed in the bar area and the food was good. The atmosphere was not great but...

I have visited this hotel with my wife for the past 8 years. We go for the breakfast, dinner deal normally in the winter and have visited may times. We are not golfers but enjoy the walks in the area and our dog is allowed. We particularly visit because the restaurant is excellent and the staff are very friendly. Claire...

I can only comment on the food in the restaurant as we have not stayed in the hotel. We have always been pleased with the choice and quality from the lunchtime menu. Soup and sandwiches, regular 'bar food' and cream teas have always been served to a high standard. Although we are not golf club members, we have always received...

We really enjoyed our weekend here. Using it as a base for a couple of visits to RSPB Minsmere. The staff were tremendous, especially after the young lady in reception, was able to change our room from a twin to a double - entirely my fault when I booked it online!! Looking forward to returning in the Spring.

Really enjoyed an overnight stay here recently. Lovely large room with balcony. Beautiful grounds and close to facilities. Excellent food. Friendly staff. A little tired in places but it didn't spoil our stay. Shower was a little disappointing. Walking route through the grounds to Aldeburgh and close to the sea. We will be going back.

We have just returned from a 2 night dinner bed and breakfast golf break and really enjoyed it. The staff were very welcoming and provided an excellent service. The accommodation was just right and the breakfast and dinner were both excellent. The golf course was in great condition and was a good test of golf and the golf pro and...

Thorpeness is a sleepy little village with an interesting history and two good eateries The Dolphin & The Kitchen, apart of course from the golf club. The Golf club has a small but comfortable hotel, ideal for a short golf break. The rooms are not large but well appointed, some with a bath if required. The restaurant provides lunch, dinners...
