Visited the hotel with my family and I was not impressed. Rates are not cheap at all for what the hotel offers. Rooms are basic and need refurbishment (especially bathrooms). Breakfast just basic and staff at breakfast not very friendly. Staff at the reception were better though and helpful.

The bar is open to non-residents so we thought we'd pop in to see what was on offer. Ordered at the bar (£14.95 per person for full afternoon tea) and a while later our 3 tier tea platter arrived. Varied choice of sandwiches, chocolate eclairs, brownies, small pannacotta and coulis, warm scones, cream and jam and a lemon mousse with...

A great choice for our one night away. Room was surprisingly large and light, bathroom well-fitted and had recently been refurbished. Food was great, both when we ordered from the bar menu on arrival and also breakfast brought to our room the next morning. The staff were ALL incredibly polite and welcoming and made us feel genuinely welcome. Gardens/grounds lead...

Having been to thorpeness a couple of times for day trips when holidaying in the area my wife and I thought we'd take the opportunity to stay here for a short break with our puppy. The hotel itself is lovely, the staff attentive and the food good. The beer selection is excellent and the bar area I will assume can...

My husband and I were invited to a friends 50th birthday celebration in Thorpeness and decided to stay over somewhere to avoid having to drive back to Colchester in the evening. We were recommended this hotel by the friend concerned and so I made some enquiries. I was amazed to be offered an excellent 'off peak' deal for two nights...

My golf swindle visited Thorpeness for our end of season get together. There were 20 of us and all had a great time, the course was fantastic, despite some cold and drizzly weather. Hotel was also very good, and we were able to use the function room for our dinner and prizegiving, which worked perfectly. Food and bar were great,...

Stayed here for a change rather than in Aldeburgh. Lovely area, room was nice and spacious with nice views. Staff very helpful and went out of their way to make sure we were taken care of. Food was very nice, good beer and wines on offer. A pleasant stay.

Booked the first week in December one night stay with Golf Dinner Bed and Breakfast. On arrival such a quaint lovely village. The lady on reception was so nice checked us in and even let in our room early. We then went to play golf and the pro shop was nice and helpful and let us tee off early. The...

I have had a long desire to stay in this charming village with interesting history linked to Peter Pan. A truly fairy tale place. Hotel excellent value and made busy and interesting by being the golf club/course. Lovely service, nothing too much trouble. Updated in most areas (including the most important for a visitor, the bathrooms) other work still waiting...
