A real fire, a skilled chef, good beer, decent wine, comfortable room and friendly staff made this a great place to spend a few nights in November by the seaside. On the doorstep of a dog friendly beach with walks to Aldeburgh or the impressive sphere at Sizewell. Car free travel possible via taxi or bus from station at Saxmundham

A lovely room with a nice big kettle. The service and hospitality was excellent. The room was perfect and I was impressed with the hot water bottle option (important in January!). The breakfast was also wonderful.

I have known The Dolphin for over fifty years. My family used to visit Thorpeness every summer when I was a child, and we rented a house nearby. The Dolphin was just a pub then. We now live in California, but visit Thorpeness whenever our travels bring us back to England. The Dolphin is a great pub... with excellent food,...

The Dolphin is a lovely friendly pub with rooms in the slightly odd village of Thorpeness. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, and the fact that there are only three guest rooms adds to the comfortable homely feel. Our room was spacious and attractively decorated, with a large well-equipped bathroom, both immaculately clean. One detail that we liked was...

I've just read recent reviews and have to say that our experience of staff, food and service during our 3 night stay was very different to those who were disappointed. From our initial greeting and check in, all the staff, on the bar, and serving evening meals and breakfasts, were delightful, cheerful and extremely helpful. They also made our dog...
