#1 of 4 B&Bs / Inns in Kinloch Rannoch
The Moor of Rannoch is a 2 AA Rosette restaurant with rooms situated beside Rannoch Station on the West Highland Railway Line. Surrounded by the rugged landscape of Rannoch Moor covering some 130km’s. Often described as one of the last true wildernesses in Europe, the area is a vast stretch of land composed of blanket bog, lochans, rivers and rocky outcrops. The Moor of Rannoch is a warm cosy retreat offering a chance to retreat, relax, unwind & escape. It is perfect for those wishing a haven from the fast paced modern world or equally adventurous explorers keen to sample this unique part of the Scottish landscape. We do not have any TV’s or internet access and there are no phones in the guest rooms. Mobile phone reception also varies from very poor to non existent. To make up for this we have a large selection of books, games and jigsaws and the lounges feature open fires and wood burning stoves. There is also a good range of Malt Whisky to help pass the evenings.

Exceptional! Despite the weather being dreadful we enjoyed a wonderfully relaxed stay with outstanding food. Worth every penny and so much better than other places which may be better known. Another positive was we could take our dogs. They even provided a hose and towels when we returned from a wet, muddy walk. We will certainly be back. Amazing surroundings and a lovely place to stay. All in all possibly the best food we’ve had in a very long time. Thank you

Situated in the middle of the wilderness of Rannoch Moor this is a wonderful place to spend some time. I took the sleeper train from London and was met at the station by Scott & provided with an excellent breakfast. Very quiet spot and a beautiful room with views over the moor, perfect location if you like wide spaces & mountain scenery and the food is magnificent. Steph is a brilliant cook. My dinner was up to Michelin one star levels. Choices of starter, main & dessert with three extra little courses added. Plus cheeses. Quite delicious. Good wine list & about 130 whiskies to choose from Oh, and while you're working your way through dinner there are Red deer just across the road, or closer, outside the window Actually I should change all this - this is a terrible place to stay, do not go there, otherwise I will have even more trouble booking my next stay! :-)

Stayed at Moor of Rannoch Hotel with friends for one night dinner, bed and breakfast. Located at the very end of the road, next to the train station. Beautiful drive round the loch on quite narrow roads with passing places to get there (would be accessible via the train also). Very remote location, ideal to do some walking or cycling or to get away from it all as hotel has no TV or WI FI. Dinner was definitely a fine dining experience with everything being home made on the premises. The set tasting menu at £65 a head changes daily, with three choices for each course followed by cheese board. Only the finest ingredients were used with definite Scottish theme. Food was beautifully presented and service was excellent. Comfortable and very clean accommodation in relaxed atmosphere. Liked the little special touches of homemade truffles and biscuits in the rooms. Breakfast was amazing! Loved seeing the wild deer come down in the evening to be fed by the hotel owner. Would recommend if you fancy good food and relaxing getaway.

Utterly superb experience in this charming and remote restaurant. Every aspect of the meal was stunning and the restraunt owner and chef could not do enough to make this special for us all. Each course was well thought out and there were options for all tastes. My daughter and I are vegetarian yet managed to have a meal which surpassed some we have eaten at restaurants with Michelin stars. If you are in the area and live great food, book a table here!

Based at the roads end next to Rannoch station, this is hands down the best use of money I have discovered this far in life. Scott, Steph and the team made us well as if we were at a friends house opposed to a restaurant. It is an incredibly relaxed location and atmosphere,, at no point do you feel rushed, there’s an opportunity to get to know the other customers. The food and service was worth 4x what we were charged. We would recommend this to anyone in a 50 mile radius of Rannoch. We will be back!
